The Wedding of the Charles and the Camilla
Manolo says, the Manolo despite his love of the joke, can say nothing about this frock and the shoes except that the Camilla, she looks most lovely, truly.
Yes, the native headdress from the Irish milliner Phillip Treacy, it looked like the pheasant sitting on top of the head. But is this not appropriate given the groom’s reputation as the country-loving sportsman?
Manolo says, we must wish them the most happiness on the day of their wedding.
As for the honeymoon…
…it looks like the touring company of the Brigadoon.

“it looks like the touring company of the Brigadoon.” Oh, did I need this laugh this morning!

Oh, the Manolo is witty and entertaining, and has the kindness of the very wise saint.
However, the humble ‘Cat, she must beg to differ the small amount from the super fantastic Manolo: the Prince, he cannot begin to compare with the Gene Kelley. The rank and the position, yes, they are there, but the charm and the sparkle, sadly, they are not!
[the humble ‘Cat, she now begins to laugh at her presumption….]
;-)
Love the Manolo!

Oh to have a castle in Scotland and a closet full of kilts in all the various traditional plaids!
I’d wear them with kneesocks and brogans, and perhaps a jaunty matching tam.
Aye, like C & C, I’d revel in it too…

Who would have thought that the horsy wrecker of the home of the Wales could look so elegant? However, the weeds in the hair…….?

I cannot understand why so many people hate Camilla so much. Calling her a home wrecker implies that she came along after Charles’ marriage to Diana and ruined things. That is not the case. She was there first but British pomp and tradition prevented Charles from marrying her in the first place. If you need someone to hate for Diana’s unhappiness while she was married to Charles, hate the British royal system not Camilla.
And she looked lovely and happy on her wedding day, regardless of the unfortunate hat.

I kind of like the hat. The ensemble was perfect, for what it was. Seed pearls & a veil wouldn’t have been quite the thing.

I love the hat!
A feathered twist on the tiara!
(And the asymmetrical shape softens Camilla’s square jawline.)

I love the hat, too. It’s a little odd, but it really does look nice on her. A jeweled tiara would have been all wrong. And the dress is just gorgeous!

I think Camilla looked lovely. Her dress was very pretty, but the wheat “coiffe” was probably not the best thing to wear on a windy day (especially if your hair happens to be wheat blonde color), but I must admit it she pulled it off very well. And I feel happy for both of them because they are FINALLY married, and I’m sure they’re really crazy about each other and people should just let them be happy. I could think of warmer places to spend a honeymoon than Scotland though (but maybe it’s romantic??)

Well, at least they aren’t wearing matching plaids on the honeymoon (as they’re shown in the NYTimes slideshow of Camilla’s evolving look)

I thought Camilla looked fantastic at the wedding, except for the hat… which I thought didn’t mesh well with the cool grey of her dress and just detracted from the entire vision of the overall design.
However… she obviously didn’t employ the same stylist for that horrifically unfortunate “this is what happens when tweed couches mate” ensemble. She needs to focus on the classically elegant and understated clothing, not too harsh of color, as it washes her coloring right out (muted pinks, celadon, salmon, robin’s egg blue… but not in a vomitous pastel-y sort of way.) And since the chapeau is de rigeur in Jolly Old England… get a milliner that doesn’t have a penchant for the bird’s nest or the upside-down dog bowl.

“Looks like the touring company for Brigadoon”– hahahahaha. I am so glad one of my friends sent me the link to your site. Comparison of the new pope to Fester is classic. I adore you.
