Woah Nelly!
Manolo says, Ayyyy! The evil that is the Lagerfeld entity, it feasts on the flesh of the horses!
Though the word was that Karl Lagerfeld lost 90 pounds on a diet of horse meat, tomatoes and Diet Coke, the book detailing his methods lists myriad unappetizing concoctions such as tuna and blackberry mousse and calf’s liver with wild strawberries. What would you expect from a man driven by fashion? “It was for totally superficial reasons that I got started on this diet,” the Chanel designer says in “The Karl Lagerfeld Diet,” due in May. “I think that fashion is the healthiest motivation for losing weight.” At least he doesn’t try to fool his fellow dieters about how good the food is: “You have to be a real bore like me for the diet to work.”
Horsemeat? Very European.

Ayyyyy!!! Diet Coke, hmm? That is odd. Water takes off pounds. Fashion, it is indeed the strong motivation to lose weight, but it is not psychologically the healthiest!

The mane and the hooves of the Lagerfeld, they look better already.

It IS very European.
Lagerfeld may dress like Doc Holliday, but Americans know cowboys rode horses, they didn’t eat them.

Ahhhh!! You’ve got an equestrian reading your blog, Manolo, and she says, “Be kind to the horses!”
It is definitely just a European & Asian thing … Americans wouldn’t touch horsemeat with a 10 meter pole!

Who would buy this book anyway? It is not like the Lagerfeld entity (love that phrase, by the way) is a physical specimen that anyone would wish to emulate! Granted, he lost a lot of weight, but now he just looks scary on yet another level. I think we all simply prefer to think that surgery was involved to achieve this mess rather than learn any of his secrets.

Re: eating horsemeat – No! Bad! Wrong! It’s like eating your dog or cat….

I would take Langerfeld’s claims with a grain of salt (if you can eat salt).
Although there is logic in combining foods into a loathsome dish in order to suppress the appetite, I suspect Langerfeld had a bit of help from gastric bypass surgery and the subsequent nip and tuck.
I mean how much honesty can one expect from a man who dresses like Michael Jackson.

I think he stole Dwight Yoakum’s pants.

Tuna and blackberry mousse is a ruining of two lovely food stuffs, but horsemeat? I nearly spit out my Godiva truffle this morning.

Aha! There is much that is explained here! If there is a grain of veracity in The Evil One (about which La BellaDonna has serious doubts), and it is true that You Are What You Eat, then La BellaDonna finally knows why The Evil One is the ceaseless, whining nag! “Lose weight!” “Buy my clothes!” “It’s all about meeee-heeehheeeehee!”

Addendum:
Emotionally, La Belladonna, she agrees with the Tiberia and the Kristin; for Americans, it is the violation of the Domestic Contract we have with our animals; for the dog, the cat, and the horse, it is “you will work for and with us, and be our companions and part of our household; members of our household are not food.”
Yes, there is the separate Domestic Contract with other animals, such as the cow, the pig and the chicken, which is “you will be food for us; until that time, though, you will be given food, water, shelter, and medical care.” Many peoples may not like this contract, but everything that lives, dies, so it is not the worst contract to have.
For Americans, La BellaDonna, she thinks the visceral reaction will be that this is the proof that the Lagerfeld, he is everything that is evil and bad and wrong.
Which is true.

Ironically, the story today on AZ.com is about the legislature that allows wild horses here in AZ to be sold, to such buyers as the Eurotrash market. Apparently wild horse meat is a delicacy in Europe. I can say I never saw horsemeat on a menu in Germany…but still….it wrenches my heart to see our mustangs up for grabs like this.

There is a horse burger on the menu at Pastis, which barfed me out so bad when I saw it that I never went back. Also when I was in Tokyo my hosts ordered raw horse sashimi and tried to convince me to partake…I had to draw the line there.

Fashion is definitely the best motivation for losing weight. I’m about 5’10 and a healthy size 12, and the thought of leaving normal sized clothing will always keep my weight in check. Never will i shop at the lane bryant. I love DvF far too much.
