The Annalucia says, she is sure that this is a very sweet and funny book, but that she does not need it in order to hear what her shoes are saying. They say that the Annalucia is over fifty and no longer svelte, that she has wide feet and that she likes to dance, which means the shoe must be comfortable and cannot have the heel height of more than two inches. (The Annalucia on the best day of her life could not wear the very high heels; she is not an acrobat to balance on the stilts.)
The shoes also say, “We wish very much that we had the Cuban heels. Why do the designers of the shoes no longer make them?” But this they say very softly, so as not to be impolite.

Ooooh, now La BellaDonna has to dig through her library to see if she still has the two copies of Shoes Never Lie, in the event that the Manolo, he does not also have a copy! It is also the funny book, yet filled with many truths.
Aaayyy, La BellaDonna’s shoes, they murmur in chorus with the shoes of the AnnaLucia. They whisper, “Why can we not have the heels of the Louis, under the two inches in height?” They also state firmly, “La BellaDonna, she has the feet like chisels, narrow with a narrower heel, and she had best take her flats AND her pumps to the cobbler for the eyelets for the lacing with ribbons, or she will break an ankle.”
