AskMom, she says to all the wonderful children out there of every age who made Mother’s Day a fiesta of traditional happiness: THANK YOU. We are so grateful for the flowers, the chocolates and the cards with the birds, suns and hearts. And we gave those same adorablly sappy indispensible things to OUR moms, your grandmas. Trust AskMom, when you are a mother you will want things to be just the same! Love and hugs to the Manolo, who is almost as perceptive as AskMom’s own sons :)

Of course we gave Moms a silver locket with a picture inside of my sister and I when we were little girls (circa 1960s); however what dear Moms wanted was to get her car serviced. So I took it to the Jiffy Lube on Saturday morning and got her car the deluxe special! She was sooooooo happy.

Oh - I am so thankful for the Manolo! For the Mother - she wants only the world famous and familial egg dish coupled with the Mimosa for the Mother’s Day Brunch. I clean, I cook, I bow low before the Mother that continues to amuse and support the Daughter even throughout the most tedious of days. The Mother, she made some very interesting comments to which I replied in somewhat frosty language. She giggled uproariously and said she was glad to see she could “still get my dander up”. In fact, I just wrote her a little ditty after that silly little spat with the Mother and the Daughter (to be sung to Yankee Doodle Dandy):

I’m Your Dander-waving Daughter,
Dander-waving do or die
A real live Wonder-gal is what I am!
Born to create all the time!

I’ve got a Dander-waving Mommy,
She’s my Dander-source of Pride
Dander-waving is my job
Just like my darling Mommy
I’m on a Dander-waving ride!

If you have shoes to wear during this flag-waving parade, please do advise. And thanks for a wonderful laugh. Enjoy the Mother of the Manolo yourself!

I liked your post, but just wanted to tell you it’s “la madre” and in Spanish it’s usually “Dia de las madres” (plural). Cheers.

I agree whole-heartedly with Ninotchka. The Manolo’s mention of the Steakhouse of the Outback made me laugh out loud in my office….again. Hilarious.

As for my ma, I will be taking her (as well as my fiancee, my sister and my pa) to a San Francisco Giants game at the most fabulous park to watch a game of the baseball…Pac Bell Park. Hot dogs, beer and garlic fries all around! I’M BUYING! WHO’S IN??!?
(trust me, ma couldn’t be happier about this)
