Paleolithic

Manolo says, careful with the horseplaying, grandpas, you don’t want to break the hips.

Ayyyyy! Too late!

Why is Mick so skinny? Has he had work done in the face? Is that a hair plug Keith Richards is sporting? How old are these guys anyway? 60, 65?

  2. Annalucia May 11, 2005 at 9:25 am #

This picture, it reminds Annalucia of a chapter heading in the book _Dave Barry Turns 40_.
It is: “Aging Gracelessly: The Joys of Geezerhood.”

Has the Manolo ever seen a photo of the Irish flautist James Galway? He is three years older than the Mick Jagger but he looks like the grown-up man and not the superannuated teenaged brat. A side-by-side photographic comparison would be most instructive.

To follow up on the previous posting, here is a recent photo of the James Galway:

One can’t help thinking that some drugs have a better preservative effect than others.
    ;)

  5. La BellaDonna May 11, 2005 at 10:57 am #

La BellaDonna did not realize that “Son of The Mummy” was being made! She sees the mummies, but where is the Brendan Frazier?

Gracias to the AnnaLucia, she is most perceptive. The James Galway, he is the older gentleman, and still the hottie. The Mick Jagger is … not.

Moe, Larry and– hey! Where’s Charley Watts?

  7. Camera Obscura May 11, 2005 at 11:20 am #

Ayyy, he was there. But at least he did not do the TV interviews. Keith, he has the little silver crosses braided into his hair like the 13-year-old girl at the beach. Who let these geezers out of their jars of formaldahyde?

  8. JayKay May 11, 2005 at 11:38 am #

No, no, no ladies and gents….The below pic is a prime example of what bad hair plugs look like. Keith’s hair, frighteningly enough if he does have plugs, does not look like a doll’s head…our loser-example-with-BAD-hairplugs-*and*-shaped-eyebrows in the pic below, has not been so lucky. Keith’s hair might actually be his own!

  9. The Scarlett May 11, 2005 at 11:45 am #

The Scarlett doesn’t care if these guys are old, she is still going to see them while she can can (and she is going to see another geezer, the Sir John Lennon).

The Scarlett watched the television special, Being Mick (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000648ZF/qid=1115829588/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/002-9236203-0167238?v=glance&s=dvd&n=507846) and learned that the father of the Sir Mick’s was still alive in 1991 and had been a teacher of the education of the physical.

The Scarlett also observes that the Sir Mick has the good sense to keep his shirt on unlike the Iggy of the Pop http://www.iggypop.com/ (or Mr. Pop as she likes to call him).

    Scarlett,

    I thought John Lennon died?

  11. daleth May 11, 2005 at 2:20 pm #

Looks like the Keith has discovered the horror of the Toni home perm.

The Rolling Stones still kick all of our asses!!! Try and deny it… you can’t. And what are they supposed to look like anyway? These guys have been rocking non-stop for about 40 years. I’d imagine that kind of lifestyle would take its toll on anybody.

  13. Annalucia May 11, 2005 at 3:48 pm #

“The Rolling Stones still kick all of our asses!!! Try and deny it… you can’t. ”

The Annalucia will be happy to deny the above statement. Of course she did not care for the Rolling Stones even when they (and she) were young and they have not improved with age. (Perhaps you will say that the Annalucia has not improved with age either. But at least she is not leaping about the stage in shabby clothes and yelling into the microphones.)

  14. Mimi May 11, 2005 at 4:22 pm #

The Scarlett she probably meant to say Paul McCartney. John Lennon and also George Harrison they have died. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are the two remaining Beatles.

  15. fiddypairsofshoes May 11, 2005 at 4:31 pm #

I will be going with the Scarlett to see the best rock n roll band in the world, and we will be wearing super fantastic shoes too!

  16. Mimi May 11, 2005 at 4:49 pm #

While the Mimi has never found the Mick to be personally appealing, she did listen to and enjoy the music of the Rolling Stones on vinyl. She agrees with the Scarlett, that at least the Mick keeps his shirt on, unlike the Mr. Pop. And he’s not out doing overtly evil things, like some others we know of….

The Mimi she would much rather see people active and productive and having fun, especially as they age, than adopting a sedentary lifestyle and heading for the home of the nursing.

  17. MollieBee May 11, 2005 at 7:53 pm #

I agree with the fabulous Mimi and would like to add that I hope i’m still rockin at 60+.

  18. The Scarlett May 12, 2005 at 7:03 am #

The Scarlett did mean Sir Paul! She was so excited about the excellent seats she got due to ‘connections’ that she nearly fainted and perhaps scrambled a couple of brain cells! Sorry! She was also talking about Sir John of Elton just a few moments before and the “Venetian Nonsense” segment in the “Being Mick” DVD.

The Scarlett also celebrates that these people are still doing things that they love. They don’t need the money … they have more than they can ever possibly spend. It has to be because they still get a thrill out of the excitement of performing. That is what The Scarlett will be paying good money to see and encourage.

  19. tia nieve May 12, 2005 at 12:39 pm #

If it is indeed the case that the Mic and the Keith are rocking for the thrill of performing rather than the money, it would be better if the good money that Scarlett is paying were slightly lower. In the Anaheim Stadium, the ticket price on the floor level is as high as $450 of the dollars. The Mic and the Keith could give us all a thrill by dropping the price for tickets.

  20. Carol May 12, 2005 at 12:51 pm #

With all due respect to the Mr. Galway, the Carol sees a marked resemblance to the Papa of the Smurfs.

  21. desertwind May 12, 2005 at 4:51 pm #

Hmmm, what do ya’ll think of the recent Cream reunion? The review in the Guardian was way harsh.

As The Husband (a Professor of Rock History) said to The Desert Wind:

At least they aren’t fat and bald!

    Start me up, indeed…

  22. cris May 12, 2005 at 5:28 pm #

    The dead men come.

  23. Skinhead May 12, 2005 at 9:49 pm #

As a bald man, I will say, “at least I’m not a professor of rock history!”

As for Cream and the Stones, they play rock and roll. What else are they gonna do? Nobody ever said anything about dignity.

    break what hips?

  25. AskMom May 13, 2005 at 2:21 pm #

AskMom, she reminds herself and all the other online friends of the Manolo that the aging, it makes us ourselves, only more so. Seeking the meaningful and the elegant reflects increasingly upon our faces, while the faces of the geezers, they reflect……well, never mind about that.
