Fragonard’s Swing
Manolo says, these shoes from the Will’s Fancy, they are the sort of pretty Rococo slipper that might be kicked into the air from the delicate foot of the beautiful girl.

The lovely whimsy of these shoes, they make me want to weep that such beauty exists in the world. Yet, never would I kick such a slipper into the bushes, even from a romantic flowery swing. They would be cherished and treated with my undying adoration.

These shoes are very fragonard! Just imagine if did kick such a shoe into the shrubbery! The frantic searching of the footmen would be intense!

Tia nieve is charmed by the Fragonard reference! It brings back her old days studying the History of Costume.

Oh! Darling, Manolo… Yes.. Yes, you’ve insisted and I shall allow you to ship the first pair to me. Granted those are diamonds, not rhinestones? I daresay I have an allergy to anything faux-glam. Now quickly, dear, I am waiting.

I see by the previous posts that these shoes have enchanted others besides me… I would jealously guard these shoes if I owned them (especially the classic brown pair).

Mme. Dogma,
May I offer you the hankie to dry the tears of joy, assuming you weep for the green, pink, & yellow?

Ah, Manolo, surely you know the saucy secret of the Fragonard’s Swing? The elegant ladies of the 17th century wore many of the silky, frilly slips and undergarments, but not the undergarment we commonly refer to today as “the underpants.” So the young aristocrat on the ground, he is getting quite a view!
