The Red Shoes of Splendor
Manolo says, gorgeous, beautiful, fiery, exotic, dramatic.
The adjectives, they cannot do this Rene Caovilla slingback the justice.
To the Manolo they savor of the exotic East. These they could only be worn to the most special of the events; perhaps the state dinner with the Yul Brenner-ish King of Siam, or maybe the opening night of Turandot at La Scala with the young Tom Selleck look-a-like as your escort.

My god - these are fantastic!!! I just began cautiously sounding out the boyfriend about his ideas of marriage, esp. to me, and these shoes are crying out to me that they want to walk me down the aisle. No, they want to strut, to promenade, to sashay, & if an aisle isn’t available, they’ll work with what they can get.
Note to self - must revisit nuptial conversation with beau. Note to others: I am SO wearing red to get married.

Hm. Tomato/Tomahto. These shoes aren’t doing it so much for me. You see exotic. I see Benihana appliqué.

The Tia thinks they’re cute but they’re not the style of the Tia. Not for the dollars of $600.
The Tia longs for the superfantastic red shoe with the heel of 2 inches.

The Giabella is wondering if perhaps she could sell her first-born on the Bay of the E, and net enough of the dollars to purchase these shoes.

But what do you wear with these fabulous shoes? Cream? Shocking red?
June 3rd, 2005 at 12:31 pm
A spritz of Chanel No. 5.
Oh, dear, now the Tia is blushing.

And a smile.

And other shoes.

This is one of the few times when the Housewife disagrees with the Manolo. She thinks these shoes are so super fantastic that they should not be saved for special occasions only. They should be worn as often as possible, as they would make even the most hum-drum of days super fantastic!
And what to wear with these? Anything my dear Lisa. Or as the Tia says…nothing at all.

They are the perfect accompaniment for an uncomplicated yet beautiful wedding dress, too. Take it from one who knows!

A hundred years ago, I saw the most perfect red shoes in Bloomingdales. They were simple pumps with a kitten heel. The top edge of the shoe was bound in gold and they had a tiny gold rose as a decoration. Fairy slippers. I still wish I had bought those shoes.

My very significant other was reading this over my shoulder, and delivered a catchy little aphorism:
“Baby, only two kinds of women in this world wear red shoes…and you ain’t no Spanish dancer.”
Thus, I must pass…he has ruined red shoes for me forever.

Emergency - you guys must help me please… I found these amazing manolo;s on neiman but the dn’t have my size. I have searched high and low for the perfect manolo shoe to inaugurate me into the “World of Manolo’s” and when I find it they are sold out of my size! I am getting teary eyed here because it was oh so close.
Could you guys please help me. I copied and pasted the link of what the shoe looks like. This is the end all and be all of all fantastic silver shoes out there…
PS - The red shoes are nice but besides wearing them with jeans and a white top, I’m not sure how to maximize on them. I am sick of hoarding fantastic shoes and not knowing how to wear them

Try calling the toll-free number - they might be able to locate them at a store.

Joanna,
Barney’s in Beverly Hills–the place where I go for my Manolo fixes has a fabulous selection at the store, though alas, not on their website which is a bit pathetic. Call them. They’re very customer-service oriented and if they don’t have them they might find them for you.
Good luck!

Tia Nieve is impressed with the swift and skillful shoe triage by the internet friends of the Manolo. Brava, ladies!

Wherever is this red shoe? I do not see in on your site. What is up with that?

I would wear these shoes to the crowded bar on Friday night with the ass-hugging flares and a simple tank top. These shoes beg for elegance and simplicity. And my ass is both elegant and simple in jeans.

La BellaDonna, she suggests that the Anonymous she may wish to take up the flamenco, if she is so influenced by the sartorial opinion of the significant other. One does not have to be an expert Spanish dancer, after all. That way the Anonymous, she may have the red shoes as she pleases.
La BellaDonna is not amused. She too was deprived of the pretty shoe by the disapproving husband. Now she does not have the husband who disapproved. She now has the soon-to-be husband who thinks that La BellaDonna, she can make no wrong choice sartorially and would look good in the frocks or the shoes of the burlap. The soon-to-be husband is not necessarily correct, but it makes him most superfantastic to live with.
La BellaDonna, she wonders about the personal sartorial splendor of the significant others who wish to control what their ladies wear.
La BellaDonna, she has mucho sympathy for the Adelaide! La BellaDonna still longs for the shoes that she let get away; they were the grey suede, with a little Louis heel; there was a grey suede ruffle around the vamp, lined with silver leather. *sob*

For some reason, I forgot to enter a name in that first comment.
As a matter of fact, the significant other is extraordinarily fond of Christian Louboutins, with the signature red sole. I do not want to speculate too much on the ramifications of the angel/whore complex he appears to be suffering from. I also do not want to speculate on the reality that I cannot purchase a pair of Louboutins without selling a kidney. Tragic, really…maybe someday.
