Thank you, the Tia Nieve! Another reason to visit Los Angeles. The Lebanese, Iraqi and Persian foods are not well represented in the Middle Eastern restaurants in New York and the Morrocan restaurants here are, how do you say, very canaille.

Oh, my! The Tia Nieve loves the food of Iran!! But she did not know of Mashti Malone until it was brought to her attention by the Manolo! Many thanks, Manolo! The Tia Nieve wants some pomegranate sorbet tonight!

To the Woodcock -- the Tia Nieve was introduced to Persian food when she was living in the land of the midnight sun --- Norway! --- by a roommate who cooked gormeh sabzi for her. If the Woodcock finds herself in Los Angeles, she may sample the food of Persia to her heart's delight!

These books sound so interesting as the Woodcock has the big problems with the middle eastern recipe books of the overrated Paula Wolfert but would love to start cooking the Iraqi and Persian food herself. The reading of the good books and the cooking and eating of the nice food are the signs of the love of civilization and for the woodcock at least, keeps her out of the trouble.

Thanks to the Manolo for the link to Mashti Malone's! A friend has spoken often of the delicate rosewater sorbet she had the opportunity to taste while in Iraq. Here's to the cradle of civilization!
