Shoes for the Island Girl
Manolo says, one of the Manolo’s many internet friends has asked the Manolo the question.
I am a girl and I work in an office on a small tropical island. My dress is casual, living on an island as I do, and I like to wear shoes - sandals - that I can walk around in easily. I also like to wear shoes that have big platform soles, as I am not exactly what you would call a big girl. Indeed, you might even call me petite. Can you recommend a nice sandal that is comfortable to walk in, is good-looking enough to be seen in, is suitable for a casual though professional workplace, and is entallening as well?
The first piece of the advice the Manolo he would have for his friend is that as the girl of petiteness she should not wear the too big of the platform shoes, lest she risk looking like the Minnie Mouse.
Then, having said that, here are three pairs of the shoes that the Manolo likes for his friend.
This shoe from the Charles David, it has the “micro” platform, and the Manolo he has the opinion that the beige it is suitable for the islands.
This sandal from the Joan and the David, it is in the color “coral”. Is this not most appropriate for the islands?
Finally, the Manolo he would recommend this from the Michael Kors, with it’s wood and leather as the natural materials for the natural surroundings.
Normally, the Manolo he would not recommend such things for the office of the work place, but in this case, the island breezes they blow casual.

Always perfect.

Ah yes, the need for a shoe for that is appropriate for the office at the beach. A problem we all have, no doubt.
Oh, I am mistaken… I mean a problem we all wish we had :-) Great choices all, particularly those in the color of Coral. And it makes me happy to know that at least someone is having a lovely summer at the beach.

Those of the color of coral are lovely, and not inappropriate for the summer office, even on the mainland.

All three pairs are indeed lovely — but the first pair would make for the very long day if one had to walk around much.

The three-inch heel, if I may be so bold, is not what I would call something an office girl “can walk around in easily,” with my sincere apologies to the Manolo.

Like Tania, I wish my sincere apologies in disagreeing with the Manolo.
I, too, live in a very warm climate where sandals are the common footwear. The sandals shown here, recommended by the esteemed Manolo, are very beautiful but impractical. When the weather it is swelteringly hot, the girl she wants a flat sandal. Especially if, like me, she has no car and walks everywhere to run the errands. A beautiful, well-made, stylish, flat, comfortable sandal for the swelling, hot feetsies.
Could the Manolo make the additional recommendations? The Sarah, she would be so happy for some direction.

Hello to the Sarah and the Tania!
The Manolo he does not disagre, however, he must remind you of the desires of the island girl, who wanted the “entallening” shoes.

the first pair are my favourite.

perhaps some stylish wedges would achieve both the entallening and the “can walk around in easily”-ness? I must have the coral ones. If I land some work this week, they are mine.

also try these, in natural.
they are like the kors, but a bit less.
the brown isn’t good, but the natural is good…

Ah beautiful….if I were only 30 years younger and 40 pounds lighter…
But for those of us who are overweight grandmothers living on tropical islands, I am afraid Birkenstocks will have to do…we need arch supports more than beauty…

I have these in red, black, and brown, plus they also are available in lime, orange, lilac, and a number of other colors. They’re so ugly that I think they’re cute, they have a platform, and I’ve put them on my feet right out of the box and worn them for hours. Anytime I go to Italy, I wear a pair and pack a pair.
