What the Manolo Is…

Manol says, it is the Tuesday, time for What the Manolo is…

Reading…

Listening to…

Reading…

Just the last week the Manolo he was praising the music of the William Bolcom, and now this week comes the news that the Williams Bolcom’s cheif collaborator, the Arnold Weinstein, has died. As the Manolo as the Manolo should have said the last week, it is not just the voice of the Joan Morris and the music of the William Bolcom that makes this album genius, but also the witty, funny, clever lyrics of the Arnold Weinstein.

Yes, the “Wild Tchapitoulis gonna stomp some rump.” Love ‘em.

  2. Cat Says:

A Confederacy of Dunces is one of my favorite books of all time! The Manolo has very good taste in reading material.

  3. Bis Nation Says:

The Bis Nation could not get into the Confederacy of Dunces. The book, it is sitting on the Shelf, half-read, mocking the Bis Nation. The Bis Nation wanted to like the book, but found the whole enterprise very tiring…

  4. Miss Trixie Says:

What I had suspected all along has now been confirmed by this choice of book–The Manolo is my hero. He is truly the arbiter of taste and decency (and theology and geometry).

  5. Nancy Says:

The Manolo should add “Yellow Moon” by the Neville Bros. to the Listening To list.

  6. Liz Says:

Bolcom and Morris have been on the top of my list for years. I’ve even got my three-year-old requesting their albums. Thank God she’s not yet discovered the excrable existence of Raffi.

  7. Cat Says:

Hmmmm, perhaps the Cat enjoyed A Confederacy of Dunces so much because she knew someone at the time who was very, very, eerily similar to the Ignatius J. Reilly, and consequently, the book made her laugh until she cried.

  8. Mimi Says:

A Confederacy of Dunces is pure New Orleans, just as it was and, as we all hope, it will be again. (…athough DH Holmes is long gone.)

I see you mentioned Arnold in your blog. You might want to post a reminscence of Arnold in the comments section of the Hotel Chelsea Blog: http://legends.typepad.com/living_with_legends_the_h/2005/09/the_chelsa_mour.html

Right now,it is a kind of unofficial memorial page for him.
