Truly, the society must grant the gay men (and women) of the fabulous taste the right to marry. Do they not realise how much these men would be spending on matching Armani Tuxedos alone? Surely the boost to the economy, it cannot be ignored!
Then perhaps the George Clooney and the Brad Pitt could live together in the domestic bliss of husbandry, and cook each other delightful meals on the decks of the Clooney’s ridiculously expensive Yacht!

And again the United States in all it’s blissful shallowness chooses money over what is morally correct.

Morally correct? According to whom?
Or as I’m fond of saying, “Equal Rights is Equal Rights.”

Shame on you, Shoesforsale! What hole did you crawl out of? It doesn’t occur to you that weddings themselves are blissfully shallow? All that pretence and consumption? No one really needs this to get married. It’s all part of a culture that creates special occasions like “Grandparents Day” so that everyone is supposed to go out simultaneously and buy presents, flowers and Hallmark cards, thus stimulating the economy. . . instead of calling or visiting their grandparents once a week like they should be doing. If you want to talk about the importance of “money over what is morally correct,” you have chosen the wrong battleground. All you are showing us is your homophobia. Deja pseu is right: equal rights is equal rights. I say that any idiot who wants to spend the equivalent of the down payment of a house on a white dress/black tuxedo and flowers should be able to do so.

The Annalucia has made the acquaintance of Never teh Bride and has so far enjoyed her writings on the Manolo’s blog. But she has avoided commenting on the subject of the gay weddings because it is such a topic of the hot button and alas, it can quickly lead to the personal nastiness between the blog’s readers, and she does not want to be involved in that. And she must confess to a certain…anxiety…about Never teh Bride’s relationship with the Beard. She wants to marry, he does not, and the Annalucia fears that this will not end well. She wants to see Never teh Bride happily married — to a man who wishes to marry *her*. In the meantime she will continue to enjoy NTB’s smart and funny observations regarding the hazards of the beach wedding, and the wedding cake with the King Kong on the top.

Ah, Annalucia, you are like a ray of sunshine!
The Beard is the practical type of man, but not the unmarrying type, fortunately. The Beard has matrimonial aspirations but has expressed his wish to delay them in favor of his educational aspirations.
Though I am of the opinion that love can keep us alive, The Beard wants to make sure we have some food, too!
