		<description>I was indeed fascinated by the entry about the poulaine, the phallic shoe that eventually grew to such ridiculous proportions that it had to be chained to the knee.  I can only hope that some young, misguided designer will try to revive the style.  Of course, I would want mine with the flesh-colored extensions, which would allow my poulaines "to flap with lifelike mobility."  </description>
