Retro Brown

Manolo says, this brown pump, with the look of the retro, it reminds Manolo of the spirited, tough-talking, gold-hearted “dames” of the early comedies of the Howard Hawks.

Perhaps the young Rosalind Russell she could wear the shoe like this with the tailored suit, and the small whimsical hat cocked to one side on the carefully coifed head, the sort of accessories that undermine the aggressive air of the “Do Not Toy With Me” woman.

Now my adoration for the Manolo is complete, for he has linked to the Norma’s very favorite film, even more favorite than those of Mr. Wilder.

Yes, Hildy would undoubted wear these extremely amusing wing tip pumps. I like to think that Auntie Mame would also wear these charming hybrids.

The Fausta, she bought last year the Melanie pumps of the Cole Haan, which go perfectly with the tailored suit.

Now you’re talking! Plain leather, pointy-toe classic pumps are all fine and good, I suppose, but I likes me some shoes with STUFF on them. Round toes – love ‘em – plus the gold detailing and the bow – fabulous.

Fausta, I was surprised to click on the Melaine link and see a pair of shoes that looks almost exactly like a pair of (cheap) Rampage pumps that I bought last year. It’s nice to know where the inspiration for my shoes came from. (Maybe I should buy the good pair, too?)

I gasped out loud when I saw these shoes. If only I had a tailored suit to go with them. And somewhere to go that required a suit.

Manolo! I have been lurking on your blog for quite a while, but these shoes, they have finally inspired me to leave a comment. They’re breathtaking!
I sympathise with DancingWithMyself, and wish to add: If only I were not a pennyless 18-year-old, soon going to the army and forced to wear nothing but boring black trainers… *sigh*

Noa – I salute you for going into the army….

Unfortunately, the feets of the Lady Gloriana are built more for wearing of the boxes that the pretty shoes come in than the pretty shoes themselves…ahhh, to have the slender feets to wear the shoes of fabulousness
