Reminds me of CS Lewis. I forgot which book it was, but there were characters called monopods who only had, well, one foot.

enygma–it was the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. And yes, that was the first thing I thought of too, but the Manolo has shown that he is my intellectual superior, for I did not know that Lewis had merely usurped an ancient Greek legend.

La BellaDonna is now deeply perturbed, because all of the yesterday (until 5 of the clock, at least), hers was the only comment regarding the Monopods and the CS Lewis, and now her comment, it is not here at all; what happened?

Hello to the BellaDonna!
Sadly, the Manolo he is continually battling the comment spam, to the tune of the hundreds of the comments each day that must be screened for appropriateness, or perhaps erased after having slipped through the screening.
Many apologies if your comment it has been inadvertantly caught up in the process of the screening and erased. Of the course, the Manolo he would never purposely erase the comment left by one of his dearest internet friends.
