Irregular Choice

Manolo says, the Manolo’s internet friend the Spirit Fingers she is threatening the legal action against the makers of the Irregular Choice shoes.

Of the course, the Manolo, he could be called as the expert witness, as he spoke of the Irregular Choice shoes nearly the year ago. The final judgement of the Manolo? “Far too Hello Kitty.”

oh my god they are horrible!
they are probably more horrible than the uggs!

these shoes are… unfortunate. like a summer-camp arts ‘n crafts project gone horribly wrong. although they would probably delight very small girls playing dressup with their local theater’s costume props department.

  3. averil November 12, 2005 at 12:44 pm #

i would rather walk barefoot in a filthy gas station toilet a la britney spears than put one of those horrors on my feet!

  4. Gidget Bananas November 12, 2005 at 2:52 pm #

The Gidget, she is speechless. She would not wear those shoes even for the celebration of the Halloween, for the jester costume, it is not becoming to womens of any kind.

ok in Irregular Choice’s defense…they have a couple of pairs that’re pretty cute. She chose to show only the most horrific, extreme ones.

  6. the Diva Leigh November 12, 2005 at 3:39 pm #

The Diva Leigh has viewed the entire collection. She did not see any pairs that were cute. What she saw was the level of the Dante’s (gasp!) SHOE HELL. The Diva Leigh is completely convinced that if she does not mend her ways, she will spend eternity with . . . these . . . hideous . . . shoes.

Embarrassed, I admit to owning a pair. Last spring I purchased a pair of flats. White round-toed flats with apples painted on them. I thought “Funky with jeans.” After I wore them once I thought “Fugly with jeans. I cannot wear these, seriously, anywhere in human being-type society.” There may have been subliminal coercion going on during the purchase process. I don’t know. I mean, I could paint apples on white flats and I’d laugh at anyone buying them.

The venerable institutions of western civilization have agreed fairly broadly that around the age of eight a child must begin to lay away childish things. Indeed in most families girls that age begin to be separated from the mounds of ruffles, lace, frills, ribbons, appliques and other cutesies that graced them at age two but could shame them at eighteen. Tragically, Irregular Choice must have been playing hooky from Aunt Adelaine’s School of Deportment the day this lesson was impressed upon the others.

AskMom commends the Internet friends of the Manolo for their taste and their dignity, and states for the record that if Irregular Choice could top off their size range at (little) girls size 12, please, we would all be very thankful.

Slap the desertwind silly with a pair o’ green sport-laces ’cause she must admit she’s sorta attracted to that green pair and would wear them if so gifted.

Every once in awhile when I’m searching on Zappos, a pair of these shoes will end up in my results. I’m always a little baffled by them – on the one hand, I can appreciate taking risks and being creative with different patterns and embellishments. But there’s always something … OFF about the designs – they never quite work, design-wise (and I’m only talking about the ones that appear “normal” at first glance). This shoe, for instance – the vintage wallpaper print is very cute, but what is UP with that dowel-rod heel? Plus, all their shoes look EXTREMELY uncomfortable and shoddily constructed, and are sold at highly inflated prices. I always think to myself, “The only person who could wear this is a hipster-boho or artist living in NYC.”

They look like something my 3 year old makes in preschool art class.

The person who should really be suing Irregular Choice is artist Junko Mizuno (note: her imagery is disturbing and not safe for work). I saw some IC shoes that had totally ripped off some of her artwork and reproduced it, poorly and blurry, on an exceedingly ugly shoe.

  13. Texasexile November 14, 2005 at 3:27 pm #

    Horrible.

  14. Texasexile November 14, 2005 at 3:28 pm #

    Ugh. Just ugh.

Another person to REALLY sue Irregular Choice is the fabulous Beverly Feldman…IC has a totally cheap-looking imitation of Beverly Feldman’s 7 poodles shoe.

    Here is IC:

  18. Amandine November 27, 2005 at 8:55 pm #

I think IC have really cute and original shoes. some are horrible, nobody should wear it.and some other are too extravagant but no really ugly. you’re showing the bad ones.

  19. Ezmerelda December 1, 2005 at 5:25 pm #

Ok – I do agree that some Irregular Choice shoes are awful and should be destroyed immediately! Some are as stinky as Vera Wang Perfume! But some of them are quite cute. And let’s not forget that many other shoe designers also make ridiculous styles. (Versace, Donald Pliner, etc. etc.) And not to dis Taryn Rose, but they look like Geriatric corrective shoes – with a hefty price tag to boot! (no pun intented) You know at the designer houses they are laughing, betting on how many crazies will actually buy the hideous things.

  20. Friend of ART in shoe design December 29, 2005 at 3:04 pm #

I think that anybody who lives in a big or fashion conscious city where people have even the smallest appreciation for modern art would likely give Irregular Choice its proper respect if not utter admiration for their ARTful designs. People who find these shoes “horrible,” must be quite horribly boring themselves.
