The Disscussion
Manolo says, the discussion session it did not work exactly as the Manolo had intended, mainly because the technology it hindered the Manolo, rather than helped, as it was not the Manolo’s voice that you heard, but someone who was attempting to read the Manolo’s IM’ed responses to the questions.
However, the Manolo he has the few words of response that he was unable to make known during the session.
First the Manolo he would note that the Kim and the Never teh Bride they were wonderfully well-spoken and informed about the importance of the fashion blogging.
For the Manolo the great trend, as he has noted below, it is the democratization of the fashion, and the great strength of the fashion blogging it is that it is part and parcel of the democratizing trends of the age.
Individuals now have voices that are being heard, and the animus of the Elizabeth Hayt to the blogs perfectly illustrates how this trend it has upset the poobahs and panjandrums, who believe that they alone are entitled to speak to the unwashed masses.
But, sadly for the Elizabeth the Correspondent and those who are like her, the world it is changing under their feet, and the pride they take in their ignorance and lack of curiosity will not change this.
Update: Ayyyyy! The Manolo he neglected to mention that the Kristen, who the Manolo thought was quite funny, was also on the panel. Many apologies.
There is the marvelous picture of the Kim, the Kristen, and the Elizabeth the Correspondent.

La BellaDonna, she hopes that there will perhaps be the transcript for the readers of The Manolo who were not able to follow the discussion session via the live feed. She congratulates the Kim and the Never teh Bride, and bristles at the animus of the Elizabeth Hayt. She hopes that there will be the transcript and the addresses for the comments, so that the appropriate Hayt mail can be sent defending The Manolo and the other wonderful bloggers.

The Annalucia, she joins LaBellaDonna in requesting the transcript, as her computer does not do “live feed” or anything that involves sound.
And who is Elizabeth Hayt? The Annalucia Googled her name and discovered that she is the author of “I’m No Saint,” wherein she “tells all” – and judging from the review it is waaay more than the Annalucia wants to know about anybody. This suggests a lack of, shall we say, discernment and right judgment, which may explain her disdain for the Manolos and Never teh Brides of the world.

Oh Manolo, I was on that panel too, except since I was added late my name wasn’t on the agenda. I am almost glad, considering all the mess on the Internets about that panel. I am the Beauty Addict and sat between Kim and Never teh Bride.
Elizabeth Hayt is one scary, overly-botoxed woman.

I, too, googled Elizabeth Hayt and also looked up “I’m No Saint” on Amazon [http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0446531944/qid=1132180502/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/102-3489700-9400953?v=glance&s=books. It’s indeed quite the tell-all (at least according to Pubishers’ Weekly), but there’s also something grim-sounding about it.
So it was not surprising to read Kristen’s description of Miss Elizabeth on Beauty Addict:
“Then there was Elizabeth Hayt, who began with this attractive piece of wisdom: ‘I hate blogs, I don’t read them. I think they’re for rich people with too much time on their hands to vent.'”
Not a lot of joie de vivre, wouldn’t you say? And look at the photo of dour Elizabeth
frowning at Kristen and Kim, who are laughing and clearly having the times of their lives. Which would you rather do for fun, read “I’m No Saint” or click onto Never teh Bride?
Blogs are all about humor, whimsy, delight in ephemera, and the airing of sharp, individual voices–all traits that our Ivy League Art Critic and New York Times Correspondent sadly lacks.

It was so much fun. That picture, for some reason, adds about 20 lbs. and the Kim she is sad about it. But, Elizabeth Hayt said reinforced to me that her book was a memoir (and a racy one at that) about her sexual escapades and I whispered to her, “if it’s a truthful memoir, then how different is it than a blog?” And she looked at me as if to say, “you know what? You’re right?”

the poobahs and panjandrums, who believe that they alone are entitled to speak to the unwashed masses.
As always, Manolo summarizes the matter succinctly.

Ayyyy! I was left out of this photo featuring the lovely Kim and Kristen! Perhaps I should go incognito from now on to build up an aura of mystery!

All Things Beautiful Trackback with the Updated ‘Blogging To Differ at Pajamas OSM Media’:
“The Manolo gives us the ‘Fashionista Angle’. Kristen @ Beauty Addict, who is a tender 24 year old blogger, was beauty live blogging as a part of a fashion panel with the talented Kim Weinstein’s I am Pretty New York City and the lovely Christa Weber @ Manolo’s Never The Bride, and thought the political bloggers were rather dismissive. Well Kristen, I blog politics most of the time, although not exclusively, and I thought the fashion part was really good fun. So there you are, there is one person who enjoyed that part of the audio. But the Blogosphere is not akin to a variety mix. They are still getting used to the photograph blogging on this site, mixed with current events. Tres risque…..”

I must agree with the Manolo about the importance of fashion blogging. I personally am incredibly bored with traditional fashion magazines. I am so done with Gwyneth Paltrow being on every cover and all of glossies bowing down to the same fashion. We as lovers and consumers of fashion need to have an outlet to appreciate our visions of fashion and I think blogging provides that

Aaaaaaay!! La BellaDonna, she finally clicked on the picture. The Kristen and the Kim, they are lovely ladies, and full of joy, but the Elizabeth, aaaayyy! La BellaDonna, her milk is now curdled, and she must find the fresh milk for the coffee. The Elizabeth should be advised that the botox, it is for the frown lines and the feets of the crows, and not for the smile muscles.
Somewhere, the Elizabeth has heard the adage, “Let a scowl be your umbrella.”

I guess Botox had the opposite effect on Ms. Hayt . . .

Oh Manolo, what a joy to be on the panel with you! I think it is time for me to revamp my shoe closet and make sure it contains suede, lots of suede.
And Pucci, too. Can’t live without Pucci. I am the office-type girl who needs Pucci to bring smiles to her Mondays!
