Oh, doubtless charming, never a moment’s question about that - not to mention brilliant, gracious, and sophisticated. But… oh well, I suppose I’m not being very charming, gracious, or sophisticated here myself and I don’t want to offend or anger our host, so I’ll can it now.

Rather exciting to think of the Manolo as someone already-famous though, no? Ooh! Ooh! What if he’s an up and coming politician?? I’d vote for him.

I find myself a bit nostalgic for the “old days” though, when there were fewer demands on the Manolo’s time. No one can lay down a zinger like Manolo when he’s in the groove.

I’ve had the same suspicion for some time now, Elayne. All the secrecy regarding identity, to the extent that The Manolo prefers to IM responses and have them read rather than phone in, suggests that The Manolo and the person behind The Manolo may not have all that much in common.

I suppose the other explanation is that the Manolo has some sort of highly respectable day job (surgeon; or CNN anchor–Anderson Cooper, is that you?) in which being revealed as a shoe blogger would be a bit of an embarrassment.

In any case, I also agree with Owlet that anyone capable of creating such a delightful internet persona must be, in real life, charming as well.

No doubt you were taken in by the pool-boy-turned-actor type who looks much like Antonio Sabato, Jr. who convinced you he could make a go of it reading your IMs but was, instead, not up to the task.

A friend suggested a few months ago that the Manolo, he is not really the he at all, but instead the she. I told her that was a ridiculous notion… now I wonder.
