That’s a pump? A court shoe? No!!
I thought a pump was by definition strapless?
How does one define pump?

I’m sorry, Manolo. But, I must disagree with you! I saw a shoe when I was visiting New York last weekend that I absolutely have been losing sleep over! I am already starting to save my pennies! It’s the Manolo Blahnik black patent leather Mary Jane - gorgeous and classic!!!!!! I must have it!

Thank you!

Per dictionary.com:
A woman’s shoe that has medium or high heels and no fastenings.
Per the Oxford American Dictionary:
A light shoe worn for dancing, etc.
Per the Cambridge American Dictionary:
A women’s shoe with no fasteners.
I guess that these are not exactly pumps.

For the Manolo, these they are the ankle-strap pumps. However, this definition it is perhaps more colloquial than correct.

‘Elegant’ came to the zippys’ mind when she saw the two pairs by the Prada. They are for the wearings to this party seasons by the elegant ladies in town.

I must share my experience yesterday which, in the manner of devoting your life to one who has saved yours, has prompted me to devote my feet to the Prada. I was at the mecca, the Saks Fifth Avenue, drawn by an inexplicable force to the shoe sale, and found my feet in an exquisite pair of black Prada pumps. After deciding to purchase them, the angelic sales associate told me that he was quite surprised that these shoes were on the sale, and that they had indeed been mismarked, but I would be charged the marked price, which was far far less than what it should have been.
Miuccia, she is clearly on my team, and for this, I am forever a disciple of the Prada… just like the Pope! Excuse me while I peruse the internet for my next pair of lovely smelling Pradas…
