Manolo the Columnist
Manolo says, the latest column of the Manolo it is now available for the downloading at the Express of the Washington Post website.
Today, the topic it was the boots for the winter.
0Dear Manolo,
Please help me find some new boots that will keep me warm during those long, cold, slushy walks to the Metro station.
Diana
Manolo says, Ayyyyyy! The winter it is here! And you cannot ignore it as you do the other problems in your life, by imagining yourself to be elsewhere. Trust the Manolo, it is impossible to pretend you are in the Montego Bay when the freezing rain is pelting your sad, forlorn hide.
You must bundle up!
Yet, you will still wish to be stylish, even as you take on the bulky outline of the Monsieur Bibendum.
This it is why the Manolo recommends to you the Crosscreek boots from the Born. So that at least the feets that stick out of the bottom of the massy ball of bad-weather clothing that have become, they will be well shod and attractive in their warmth.

I’ve liked these boots since the Manolo first posted them, and caught them on sale at Zappos in June. It’s snowing in NYC today, I’m wearing them, and they’re great. The MoP QQQ humbly thanks the Manolo for bringing them to our attention.

From my own LJ just today: “Yes, everyone, the worst day of the year is upon us: The end of Cute Shoe Season. I’ll be in jeans and boots for the next four months, and not the super fantastic boots of the cowboy either (those have a smooth leather sole perfect for death spiralling along the icy sidewalk). The ugly boots of the snow hiker or the less ugly but still not so cute lace up boots with the chunky heel. Both of which look fine with jeans but not much else….Perhaps an email to Manolo… is in order.”
Thank you for always anticipating the need of the girl wishing to be super fantastic.

I, too, thought these boots the perfect stylish solution for the Canadian winter, until I looked at the bottoms. They have no treads. None. They are like riding boots. One teensy tiny patch of ice and it’s all over!
The search continues.
