Happy Holidays! I too am looking for the great bargains! I like the shoes you selected. Like you, I frequent the bargain racks and find that my search is frequently rewarded. You probably receive many compliments on your appearance.

A while back, New York Times published an entertaining article on clothing and shoes from our mass retailers. So many of the designs were borrowed (and well executed) from the high fashion designers. Also, the interpretations were more wearable by the average person.

So enjoy your beautiful shoes and have a happy and healthy 2006!

I would like the Manolo to know that I was in Harvey Nicks this afternoon, where its sale had started earlier than I expected, and I found a very nice pair of LK Bennett, brown suede ankle strap peep toe wedges for only 49 of the British pounds, which was an excellent reduction. Then the voice of the Manolo it whispered in my ear. Are these the super fantastic shoes? And I looked at them closely, and I saw that no, even though they were only 49 of the British pounds, still they were not super fantastic, and it would be better to wait until the first Saturday in January when the Christian Louboutin sale starts.

So now, for the rest of my life it is to be the super fantastic or nothing. And all thanks to the Manolo.

Alas, I am a poor girl, too. Poor girl as in, if a pair of pants costs more than $9.99 on the clearance rack, then they’d better be good. I found these the other day and fell in love. They’re gorgeous, and indeed fairly comfortable! For those of us who can only dream of even super-sale Vera Wang, I feel these are a very acceptable substitute. Please tell me that my taste is not atrocious, Manolo.

I read Manolo every evening with my ten-year-old daughter. It helps her reading, and gives her an wonderful fashion education, and instills in her an appreciation of the Hasselhoff. So I should not have been surprised, during Christmas shopping with her this past week, when we passed a Franco Sarto shoe display and she exclaimed, “Look, Mama! Franco Sarto for the Poor Girl!”

Thank goodness the Post is giving the Manolo more space. It is about time.

you cannot afford the shoe of the Choo? (Retail price more than what “the Man” he pays you for the entire week’s worth of the drudgery.)
