The Manolo is perspicacious as usual, recognizing that the Carmina Burana is better with the original tunes. None of this Orff stuff. The xiaolongnu would like to recommend the alternative recording of the ur-Carmina by the Boston Camerata on account of it has many more tracks including "Tempus adest floridum," which later got respectable and became "Good King Wenceslas," plus lots of other racy medieval lyrics. The xiaolongnu may be slightly biased as she was one of the singers who helped make this recording back in her misspent youth.

I like to say (regarding movies) that when you have to resort to Carmina Burana, it's a good bet you should've worked harder on the script.

It's a lovely piece of music, but so woefully overused.

Cape Fear is ridiculously overwrought, but Juliette Lewis delivers a stellar performance.
