Jimmy Choo Crack Up?
Manolo says, this inside the baseball story from the Jossip, it is the old news to the Manolo, but you may find it interesting if you like to read about the travails of the shoe industry.
Four-inch heels are kickin’ (if not flyin’ across the boardroom) over at Jimmy Choo. The shoe company famous for its stifled in-fighting is making good on its rep.
At the center of the dolled-up drama is Choo’s polished head designer, Sandra Choi (niece of the original Jimmy Choo, who ducked out of the company in 1996). Except, well, you might not know of Sandra’s efforts at all, given corporate chief Tamara Mellon claims that it is she who’s the the chief designer — and entirely responsible for the collections Choo spits out.
Sure, Tamara.
And the story it gets worse from here.
This sort of the thing it depresses the Manolo. He just loves the shoes of the Choo, not the shoe industry bickering.

So, anyone have any idea if Sandra Choi is staying or going? Of course, the more the public finds out about this the better chance we have of keeping the shoes the same.
Manolo you said this is old news, where else can we find more info?

Vicky, some of this info was included in an article in Vanity Fair last year. I believe it was the October issue. This article was essientially a profile of Tamara Mellon, but it also included information regarding the company’s backstory, the abdication of Jimmy Choo (read takeover), buyouts and the continuing in fighting.

Manolo –
I’m sure by now you will have been sent this link one hundred times over, but I wanted to make sure you have seen the Fug Girls latest entry. I know you will appreciate the respect they have shown the Hasselhoff!

Texasexile, thanks for info on VF article. i found it and read it very interesting also noticed there was nothing bad about jimmy choo in it and it was just a Public Relations piece, nevertheless it was intereseting.
i think all of this pressure has made stuff come out but i just read on another site that they are now going to do a shoe line called “sandra choi for jimmy choo” bet she gets commissions on everthing that sales since her name is on it

Jimmy Choo shoes are not even half as beautiful as Manolos! Manolos will be here long after all the “Choo” bickering. Ms Mellon sounds like she is acting like a spoiled brat!
In the meanwhile I would rather support Manolos…owning about 600 pairs I am proud to slip those “puppies” on. YOU “GO” Manolo.

You are all silly. Not everyone is rich enough to afford a $300 pair of heels, let alone a $50 pair! The Jimmy Choo company still thrives because of rich celebrities feeding their profits really. Think about it, if each pair was $200, 20 pairs would be $4000….. I have seen the shoes, and they’re not that great. In fact, I only liked one pair because of its design, the colour was disgusting. Gosh, and I thought $40 shoes were expensive O.o….

So we are now in late September 2006 and if the jimmychoo.com site is to be believed, Sandra Choi is very much creative director.
does this mean she got paid what she deserved?
and how’s Tamara taking it?
of course, you get to see her pics on the opening pages of the site shooting the famous campaign with Quincy Jones.
