Manolo says, perhaps the Manolo he does not have the influenza of the birds, but he could not feel worse if he did.

Oh, the Manolo! I am so sorry you are feeling bad. Chicken soup actually has antibacterial properties and this homeopathic remedy works well: 10 drops of Goldenseal and Echinacea plus 10 drops of Astragalus in water and then chew 3 chewable Vitamin C tablets. No joke, it really works. Feel better and I’m sending feel better vibes~~~~~~~~
The Elvira, she eats the chicken soup only when she is feeling poorly. The chicken soup has the antibacterial properties, as Kim says, and it also helps the ill one to stay hydrated. To clear the sinuses, the Elvira will add a single drop of the hot sauce to the soup, but then again, she is more fond of the hot spices than most of the peoples. As she feels better, she will add a small handful of the orzo pasta to the soup.
Lots of sleep helps, too. The Manolo seems to have much energy under normal circumstances, but perhaps he would do well to go to bed early and sleep late for a few days.
Regardless of what remedy works best, the Elvira hopes the Manolo feels much better very quickly.
Muy estimado maestro Manolo, please allow the Norma’s recent experience to be of benefit to you: upon developing the tell-tale sniffles, she was recommended by two different peoples to try the Zicam spray. Skeptical, but willing to advance the cause of science at all times, she made the experiment, and much to her surprise, it was an unqualified success. She is now quite well, after only three days of being sick. It may be that it’s necessary to do this early in the onset of the virus, but she would recommend your trying the stuff anyway, as it really did help her. And for symptom relief, along with the many fine suggestions above, she would also suggest the lovely ginger tea with lemon and honey: not only does it soothe the poor hurting throat and open up the stuffy nose, it tastes divine. Que vuelva a la salud superfantastica con toda rapidez!
Oh … sorry to read that. Elvira is right, the chicken soup is good for the sick. You should drink lots of water … have lots of sleep. Wish you speedy recovery!
Jewish mothers of America say to the Manolo, ‘We told you not to go out without your coat so see what you’ve done to yourself? Now drink this bowl of chicken soup, right now. Of course, if you were married your wife would make you the chicken soup, not that it would be as good as mine, but at least you would have given me grandchildren already, and . . .’
Nyquil, Zicam, Echinacea, and chicken soup! The bug that is going around is an extremely virulent one. I’m the type who is never ill and even I wound up being bedridden for a week.
true Laura K- of all the times the Manolo could have become ill- this is the worst!
He now has but two options- stay home and browse through the fashion shows as they come to style.com like the rest of us poor slobs,
or he can go despite his illness, and risk causing a fashion plague, because everyone knows the malnourished fashion editors and/or models, have a lowered immune system.
Get well soon Manolo! do all that crap that everyone else said- and look at pictures of pretty shoes, because that always makes me feel better!
I’m sorry to hear that the Manolo is feeling poorly!
The Wiseass, she suggests the superfantastic hot whiskey for the cold- and flu-like illness.
The hot whiskey, it is about two fingers’ widths of whiskey in a mug along with some hot water, a slice of lemon pierced with cloves, and a stick of cinnamon. The best plan, it is to get a friend to make one and bring it to you.
My dear Manolo, it seems that you’ve been over doing it again. You’re always such a busy bee…. Don’t burn your candles at both ends. If I could, I’d personally bring you chicken soup and all that other stuff to get you on the mend. But I’m thousands of miles away, so I’m just beaming over lots of energy, positive thoughts and love. There you go - did you feel that? Get well soon! X
Manolo,
Sorry to hear you have the sniffles. Lots of rest, soup and nyquil. Move only from the bed to the couch and take lots of mid-day naps. Watch lots of bad daytime television and netflix movies. Feel better soon!!
Manolo dear!
You must order in some House Special Soup from the chinese take-away…and watch some fashion coverage on the telly.
(I think it’s going to be a big day on All My Parent’s Offspring today!)
(All My Children, silly…)
Poor Manolo! Here’s my perscription: one tablespoon of good honey, one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice, one heaping tablespoon of Bourbon (one of the mellower non-wheated ones, perhaps Heavenhill or Old Forester) and top up the cup with water just brought to a boil. Repeat until well.
May I suggest the Manolo call his internist? The Tamiflu can lessen the severity and the length of the course of the viral illness, if started at the onset.
But then again, bed and a belt of Courvoisier to ease the aches along with the chicken soup may well have the same net effect-

PS - Dear Manolo, don’t hesitate to go the doctor if you don’t feel better soon.
PPS - And, whining is allowed. The desertwind doesn’t hold with that stoicism malarky.

Poor, poor Manolo. It is permissible to rest and whine.
Sleep always helps and down lots of liquids. With all the postive thoughts and love from the site you should be out and about in three days.
God bless.
