Dia de San Valentin

Manolo says, once again the Dia de San Valentin it approaches! And woe unto the man who neglects his duty in the matter of providing to his beloved the Frenchy chocolates, the fine wine, the red flowers, the fancy perfume, the jeweled trinket and/or perhaps the weekend trip to Paris.

Such the man the Manolo he would not care to be on the day after the Day of the Valentine.

Thus, it once again falls to the Manolo to remind his men friends to open the hearts and the wallets during this the most important day of the year for the matters of love.

Yes, perhaps your woman she says to you that she “could not be happier” than to receive your traditional gift of the Whitman’s Sampler, presented as it has always been, in the Wal-Mart bag with the receipt for the auto parts and sweat pants still inside.

Trust the Manolo, if this happens again this year, your woman, she has died the little inside.

And yes, the Manolo he knows perfectly well that you cannot buy the love, at least not at that price.

Indeed, he also knows that the true love it is not dependent on the giving and the receiving of the gifts, that we should love and be loved irrespective of the quality of the gifts that are involved.

Yet, at the same of the time, it is only natural that we should wish to shower our beloved with those frivolous things which make the life more pleasant, those things which indicate the esteem in which the beloved is held in our hearts,

Thus the Manolo he would urge his men friends to take the time, to spend the little moneys, and to consider carefully that which is to be given. It is most important.

Manolo the Columnist

Manolo says, the Manolo’s most recent column for the Express of the Washington Post it is now available for the downloading. Today, the Manolo he talks about the shoes for the Dia de San Valentino.

Dear Manolo,

Can you recommend a pair of beautiful sexy red shoes for Valentines Day, something to get my man’s heart racing.

Manolo says, if you want to get the man’s heart to racing you should perhaps purchase for the man the pair of the red running shoes!

Ha! The Manolo he jokes!

Yes, the Manolo he knows that the Dia de San Valentino it is the day during which many of the Manolo’s readers will undoubtedly attempt to crank the perceived sexiness up to the eleven, perhaps by involving the tight lingerie, and the liberal application of the Elizabeth Taylor’s White Diamonds.

But, the Manolo he would tell his friends not to worry, as the men they are the simple creatures with the simple, animal desires. And so, his readers they should remember that subtlety of the feetwear it is not something that would normally be overly appreciated by the men, and if it is, perhaps it is time to worry, girlfriend.

And so, the Manolo he would recommend the red, high-heeled strappy sandal, with the little bit of the bling, so that the man he is dazzled by the shiny object.

The Faviola from the Two Lips it meets these requirements, and even the better, it is unusual enough in the shape and style so as to perhaps engage the shoe connoisseur in you.

Carnivale of Couture #4

Manolo says, the fourth Carnivale of the Couture it is on the way early next week, to be hosted at the blog of the wonderful Kim. And what is the proposed topic?

I am so fortunate to host on the week when Fashion Week ends, the dust is settled and we can all make our assessments. So here is the question: What was your most/least favorite part/garment/party/celebrity sighting of The Week and, as a result, are you looking forward to the upcoming season with anticipation or trepidation?

This it is the excellent topic and the Manolo he encourages all of his blogging friends to participate.

Also, this week’s rolling Carnivale, the on-going blogging of the New York Fashion Week, The State of the Fashion Union, it is still being organized from the wonderful blog of the Fashiontribes.com
