I was transported to the first time I saw a Frederick's of Hollywood store in our local mall circa 1977. OMG! And to think, that is what I aspired to! Thank goodness I had a no nonsense mother who put the kabosh on that crap! I shall do something to show my eternal gratefulness this Mother's Day!

Simon Cowell is in no position to criticize anyone’s wardrobe! He must surely be playing the same vigorous games of pick-up basketball as Michael Kors, based on the same three stretched out sweaters & t-shirts he keeps wearing on the show.

As for Martha - I hate ponchos too - but I'll cut her some slack. Another inmate made it for her as a gift, a woman she made friends with in prison. As a convicted felon, the terms of her probation prohibit her from having any future contact with fellow inmates. The woman who made it bought the yarn in the prison store. So this was a token of friendship from someone that Martha will never see or hear from fro the rest of her life.

Lileks makes me laugh so hard that I always squirt [something] out of my nose. And then I continue to snort over it for hours---nay, days---afterwards. Truly a genius. Manolo, if you haven't read it yet, you need to find his book "Interior Desecrations," featuring some of the most-atrocious of the 60's-70's interior decorating. It absolutely had me weeping before I was even 5 pages into it. Here's a link to a sampling of what's in the book. ("Sweet smokin' Judas, what were they thinking?...")

I just can't wait to read his latest, "Mommy Knows Worst." (*tee-hee!*)
