Dear Manolo,

I was wondering if you could help me pick out a pair of wedges. It’s kind of complicated because I am only 12 years old, soon to be 13. I am also mostly broke. I would love for you to reccomend to me a pair of springy summer wedges that I can afford and are not too expensive.

Now, wait. Manolo doesn't recommend shoes from payless. They may be cheaper, but that's because they're cheaper. My nine-year-old son, when properly motivated, can earn $60 in a month. I don't see why a girl can't. I have to pay $7/hr for babysitting here. Three short evenings and the girl has shoes! Those are really cute.

I am also 12, and I did not care for them. THey were way 2 high. The highest heel I have ever had was 2 1/2 inches. Tone down the sparkles. I did like the ankle straps. I saw some at Target that looked similar for less than half the price. It was slightly depressing, but I must say that they were cuter. I am definitly not a fan of Shetchers, either. ( I don't think I spelled that right...sorry.) On a scale of 1-10, 10 being awesome, I would give them a 6.

yikes! i adore the manolo, and i adore the wedges, but putting 12-year-olds, with as of yet undamaged feet, in 3 inch wedges is what produces adult women with bunions and hammer toes, no?

Ouch! $55 to most 12-year-olds is months of saved allowance or babysitting money. (Or am I out of the loop? I'm 33, and $55 is still alot of money to me!)

How about these similar [but slightly less sparkly wedges from Payless for $14.99? And these cute gold ones from Old Navy are only $19.99.

Now that's more in a poor 12-year-old's budget!
