The Dream Realized!

Manolo says, this story, it is for the Manolo like the dream come true!

The talking car K.I.T.T. is heading to the big screen in an adaptation of the hit 1980s TV series “Knight Rider.”

Series creator Glen A. Larson will write and executive produce the Weinstein Co. project, which he anticipates will begin production next year. The project had previously been in development at Sony-based Revolution Studios.

Larson has bandied about the project for years. “A number of people wanted to do a pure comedic send-up of it, but I always felt that would throw away the franchise,” he said. “There was always some humor on the show, but this film will probably have more gallows, foxhole humor.

Despite the darker tone, he said he would aim for a PG-13 rating because he doesn’t want to exclude the series’ core audience. The show ran on NBC from 1982-86.

As the Manolo has noted in the past, during the darkest days of the Manolo’s poverty, one of the few things that prevented despair from closing its bony fingers around the throat of the Manolo was the Knight Rider:

At night, after the hard day of the poverty, the Manolo he would lay in the dark of his cold, dirty apartment, listening to the rats scurrying, and dreaming that the Manolo he would be rescued by the eccentric billionaire industrialist, who would give the Manolo his own super fantastic KITT Trans Am, one that could use the many features to help the Manolo in the making of the super fantastic shoes.

Together, the Manolo and his car, they would defeat the forces of the evil (who in those days were wearing of the Birkenstocks.)

Today, the Manolo he will never forget those dark days of the past when the twin demons of the poverty and the hunger they stalked the Manolo on their pale horses.

Indeed, it is the most wonderful news this announcement of the soon to be in production movie.

One of many reasons why I love reading the blog of the Manolo.

Let us not forget that Kitt can magically cause the hair of the chest to grow thick and luxurious.

The Manolo should go see The Mission of the Impossible3, which is amusing in ways its producer (whose character doesn’t fall off the roof because of his life-saving death grip of super masculinity) probably didn’t intend.
During the previews, they showed (twice!) the trailers for Click, which also stars the Hasseloff.

(with apologies for the shameless self-promotion)

I sympathize with the Manolo. I too was caught in the throws of poverty and my sweet little child wanted only the replica of the KITT for Christmas. By depriving myself of the basic necessities of shoes and food I was able to save enough money to buy the KITT and fulfill the dearest wish of my bambino and bring joy to his sad little world. Surely he will remember this with much gratitude on the day of the Madres.

Manolo, I hope the producers hire you as a speciel consultant to the film – you are uniquely qualified!
