Manolo says, ayyyyyyyy! The end times, the final battle of the gods, Ragnarok, they are upon us!
Skol has at the last caught and eaten the sun, and Jörmungandr, the Midgard serpent, has awakened from her slumber to lay waste the land and sea. Soon, Surtr and the fire giants of Muspelheim, will cross the rainbow bridge from the south to rend the very sky itself!
Well, it is either that, or the GWAR knock-off band it has won the Eurovision.
Meanwhile, the crowd has left but these two they are still going at it.
Eurovision is enjoyable in its unpredictability. I’m always surprised by the performers, their outfits and their songs. The dancers and staging :o. The mind boggles but in a numbingly pleasant way – as in “did I really see that!”

The Manolo he is ashamed to admit that the Desertwind is exactly correct: the tune of the Lordi, the Hard Rock Hallelujah, it is quite catchy. Indeed, it is now stuck in the head of the Manolo.
I love the Fug girls’ description of the winners, especially the girl monster with her bouquet of flowers. You must go see the performance at YouTube, as well.
We must have the Eurovision Song Contest on American TV next year! To which congressman do we have to write?

As always Eurovision is pure entertainment with the occassional combination of costumes, choreagraphy and composition that works. Lordi Hallelujah!!! Never before have so many monsters won such a distinction.

And to whoever put on that link to Eat Bulaga: My friend, I grew up watching Eat Bulaga all the way through the ’80s, and if you thought that show had cheesy production numbers… well, apparently you have not watched enough television from the Philippines. The Pinoy channels that we do get here in the States do not even cover half of it, IMO, and together they already make Telemundo look like C-SPAN. Seriously.
