The Dream Realized!

Manolo says, this story, it is for the Manolo like the dream come true!

The talking car K.I.T.T. is heading to the big screen in an adaptation of the hit 1980s TV series “Knight Rider.”

Series creator Glen A. Larson will write and executive produce the Weinstein Co. project, which he anticipates will begin production next year. The project had previously been in development at Sony-based Revolution Studios.

Larson has bandied about the project for years. “A number of people wanted to do a pure comedic send-up of it, but I always felt that would throw away the franchise,” he said. “There was always some humor on the show, but this film will probably have more gallows, foxhole humor.

Despite the darker tone, he said he would aim for a PG-13 rating because he doesn’t want to exclude the series’ core audience. The show ran on NBC from 1982-86.

As the Manolo has noted in the past, during the darkest days of the Manolo’s poverty, one of the few things that prevented despair from closing its bony fingers around the throat of the Manolo was the Knight Rider:

At night, after the hard day of the poverty, the Manolo he would lay in the dark of his cold, dirty apartment, listening to the rats scurrying, and dreaming that the Manolo he would be rescued by the eccentric billionaire industrialist, who would give the Manolo his own super fantastic KITT Trans Am, one that could use the many features to help the Manolo in the making of the super fantastic shoes.

Together, the Manolo and his car, they would defeat the forces of the evil (who in those days were wearing of the Birkenstocks.)

Today, the Manolo he will never forget those dark days of the past when the twin demons of the poverty and the hunger they stalked the Manolo on their pale horses.

Indeed, it is the most wonderful news this announcement of the soon to be in production movie.

Manolo the Columnist

Manolo says, even though the Manolo was travelling much of the previous week, he still found the time to write his column, which is available for the downloading at the new website of the Express of the Washington Post.

Dear Manolo,

Summer is here, and I long for lovely, special, summer shoes. It is difficult, though, to find the shoes that make the heart sing without making the other attorneys say “WHY is she wearing THOSE?” Can you perhaps recommend something lovely, yet not too obvious/ostentatious, for summer for the working girl?

Ruby

The heart of the Manolo, it goes out to those spirited young peoples, like the Ruby, who have found themselves in the legal profession, and who must now everyday push the giant stack of documents up the steep hill, the stack that everyday only grows larger while the summit only recedes further into the clouds.

Worse, what makes the futility doubly painful it is that while the young lawyers are pushing on the stack of papers, just outside the building, visible through the gilded windows of the senior partner’s corner office, it is the glorious warm day that is dying without them.

Is it the wonder then that so many of the lawyers fantasize about the escape, usually through such ridiculous and magical means as the writing of the best-selling legal thriller, one that will, quote, “make the Grisham look like Mary Poppins.”

Do not despair, young lawyers, the Dr. Manolo has the prescription for the feeling of ennui brought on by the knowledge of legal entropy…it is the shoes!

The Manolo suggests the Hampton from the Stuart Weitzman, it is the light, coolly sophisticated shoe in the neutral tones that will sooth your lawyerly estrangement from nature.

Manolo on the Road

Manolo says, as the many internet friends of the Manolo may have noticed, little has been posted this week here at the Manolo’s humble shoe blog. This it is because the Manolo has been most busy this week.

Sadly, he is about to become much busier, as the Manolo will this day make his annual trip to Malibu, where for the next few months he will be firmly lodged in his summer residence along the coast.

This time, it is for the Manolo one of the most delightful seasons of the year, when the Manolo can put behind him the demanding schedule of the flanneur and become the simple beachcomber.

However, you are not to worry, as the Manolo will, by the first part of the next week, be back in this space, sharing with his many internet friends his meagre japes and his love for the shoes of super fantasticness.

Malkovich!

Manolo says, Malkovich is pensive! Again!

Shopping for the Shoes in España

Manolo says, one of the Manolo’s many internet friends has asked the Manolo the question.

Hi Manolo!

I am traveling to Spain in a month and I long to purchase some fabulous footwear while I am there. I’m wondering if you have any designers to watch, locales I should be sure to visit, or tips on what to look for? Thanks for your worldly wisdom!

-Cortney

For the best shoe shopping in España, one must go to the old barrio of the Manolo, La Chueca, specifically to the Calle Augusto Figueroa street where there are many stores selling the many super fantastic shoes at the most bargain prices.

Trust the Manolo, the visit to the shoe stores on the Calle Augusto Figueroa it will save the dedicated shopper many dozens of the Euros.

Of the course, after the shopping, you must cross to the other side of the Plaza Chueca, and refresh yourself with the caña at the marvelously antique Bodega de Angel Sierra, or perhaps if you are peckish, turn the corner and go up the Calle Libertad street to the Bocaito, where you will find the best tapas in all of Madrid (be certain to have the trucha ahumada). And then there is the La Bardemcilla, for the spotting of the Spanish celebrities, or perhaps if you are one who is in need of the intercession, the visit to the bones of the San Valentin.

Ayyyyy! You have made the Manolo homesick thinking about that which he is missing.

The Perfect Gifts For La Madre

Manolo says, the Dia de las madres it approaches!

Trust the Manolo, you do not wish to have this day arrive without presenting to your mother the gift suitable to her status as the queen bee of your humble hive.

Thus, if your mother, she is the woman of humor, perhaps she might enjoy the item from the Manolo’s Shoe Blog Shoppe.
