It just proves that it's not cool to wear white after Labor Day........I MEAN, COME ONE! I know he's the RocketMan and the Bitch Is Back & all that, but white after Labor Day just does not look good. Especially paired with a DARK SUIT!

What was he thinking? Or rather, what was his stylist thinking? Dreadful, dreadful, dreadful. They look like those white plastic shoes you find on Ken dolls.

Andy -- I think our summer-bracketing holidays coincide within a week or so each of the Queen's (official) Birthday and the September Bank Holiday.

Without people abandoning “rules” in favor of what makes sense there would be no change nor growth. That having been said, you still won’t find me wearing white shoes after Labor Day or before Memorial Day and, as another example, I will not wear corduroy in summer. Call me a dinosaur if you want to, but to me there is a specialness about dressing in clothing particular to the season.

Oh, for pete's sake -- it's ELTON! He's a freak of nature, like a hummingbird or those flowers that bloom every 100 years. Normal rules do not apply. Just smile and enjoy him.

PS... Andy -- conventional American Fashion Wisdom has until very recently dictated that white shoes should only be worn between Memorial Day (in May) and Labor Day (early September), those holidays more or less bracketing "summer" in this country. It has been an iron-bound Fashion Absolute for several generations, and its decline is causing much consternation and confusion, liberating though it may be.
