Manolo the Columnist

Manolo says, here is the Manolo’s latest column for the Express of the Washington Post.

Dear Manolo,

I’m starting a new job in January, but once again, my generosity has outdone my commonsense and I’ve spent all of my money on Christmas gifts. Please help me find some affordable work shoes.

Cindy

Manolo says, as always the Manolo gives the same counsel, to not buy the cheap shoes of pain and suffering and the fake leather, but to save your moneys and buy the high quality shoes of comfort and stylishness. Beautiful shoes will make you stand straighter and feel more confident, the exact qualities desired by the employers.

Yet, how well the Manolo knows what it is like to have the bank ruptured after the spending spree of generosity, and thus be the poor person who is forced to fashion his own super fantastic employment shoes out of the cardboard wrapping paper tubes and the crumpled credit card receipts.

Thus the Manolo would commend to his friend the shoes of the Franco Sarto as being among the most stylish of the affordable shoes, shoes that will do the job until sufficient capital is accumulated for the truly wonderful feetwear.

Look here is the Impala by Franco Sarto, the handsome professional pump with the understated feminine detail.

Manolo says, when the Manolo’s internet friend the Heather first alerted the Manolo to these shoes from the Birkenstock he bethought to himself, “they are for the childrens.”

And then the Manolo noticed that they only come in the sizes of the adult womens!

Naturally, this leads one to speculate what sort of the woman chooses to wear the shoes that proudly feature the misshappen images of the familiar animals….

Present and future cat ladies, certainly.

Obsessive breeders of the teeny yappy dogs, probably.

People who have the extensive collection of the goofy holiday sweaters, perhaps.

Women who erroneously believe that wearing the mass-produced whimiscal feetwears will make them stand out from the suburban throngs at the mall, most likely.

Mental patients, undoubtedly.

Manolo the Columnist

Manolo says, here is the Manolo’s latest column for the Express of the Washington Post.

Dear Manolo,

As is appropriate for one of your long-time readers, my resolution for 2007 is to look super fantastic at all times. What would you recommend for New Years Eve?

Jessica

Manolo says, what does the Manolo recommend? Champagne!

That, and the naïve and unbridled enthusiasm for the coming of the New Year, when we may cast off our old habits and begin life anew. And so we resolve to give up the smoking, and the junk food, and the dating of the men who are no good for us, (well, except for the Arturo, who is bad in that Latin way that we find so charming).

Of the course, the best resolutions are not those that involve the wrenching life adjustments, but those that may be attained in the more pleasurable ways.

Vow to look super fantastic in the 2007 and each time you purchase the beautiful shoes, or go the day spa you may have the personal satisfaction of knowing that you are sticking to your resolutions of the New Year.

Others shall marvel at your “will power”.

Indeed, why wait for the new year? Start looking super fantastic early, with the Twistee from the Stuart Weitzman, the sexy hot shoe with the playful rhinestone adornment.

Manolo in the French Vogue

Manolo says, the Manolo and many of his fashion blogging internet friends they have been profiled in the online version of the French Vogue, under the headline, Blogs de Mode.

Here is the link to the section with the Manolo.

Autoportrait:

If you are having the trouble finding the last minute gift for that manly-man, the Manolo highly recommeds The Places In Between as being the sort of ripping yarn that the menfolk appreciate. Indeed, the Manolo, himself, has found it to be the exceptionally good read.
