I JUST finished Straight Man, which was thoroughly enjoyable. I’m on an academic fiction spree, and am now reading Moo by Jane Smiley, all about Moo U., an ag college with a building called “Old Meats.”

I was just going to suggest Straight Man to the Manolo, Jez! I love the Russo, and only wish he was more prolific. I had never picked up The Risk Pool or Mohawk, thinking I would be disappointed after reading his more recent work. Wrong. His characters shine. Read them all.
I wonder what kind of shoes he wears….
