Injustice!
Manolo says, the Manolo is dismayed to see that once again the Bloggies, the annual awards for the best blogs, have neglected to include the catagory for the Fashion Blogs!
This it is the injustice! (Yes, perhaps not the great injustice, but the injustice nonetheless.)
One need only look at the dozens of the recent articles in the mainstream press about the influence of the fashion blogosphere to see that the fashion blogging has become the phenomenon that cannot be ignored. But ignore it the Bloggies have done, undoubtedly because the organizers of these awards are the post-adolescent techno-geeks more interested in talking about the electronic doohickeys and the Web 2.0 than the subjects that are of real interest to many millions of the blog readers.
If, like the Manolo, you wish to see the fashion blogging as the category in the Bloggies, go to the website of the awards and send the organizers the email politely expressing your desire to have the fashion blog category included forthwith.

How timely! There have been some grumbling in the dance blog community that there is no category for “performing arts” blogs, even though there are some very very cool ones out there. (Though at least this year the bloggies did add category for music, but that still leaves out a whole world of other arts.)

This is an outrage!

But there is hope! One may nominate the Manolo in at least two categories: Topical (meaning a blog on any topic not otherwise specified) and Most Humorous. Go forth and vote!

I’m shocked….shocked! This is indeed a misjustice. But I agree with Bon Mot….this isn’t really a Fashion Blog, it is both Topical and Humorous. Where else can I go on the web to get an idea for something to wear, something to read, something to watch….all the while laughing to myself.

Dear Manolo,
Your wish is our command!

You could also be nominated for “Best Written”
But here is where these little webgeeks screw up (again, since they don’t have fashion blogs- oh and why do they have it as “weblog?” is there any other type of blog?)
In their rules they say:
The contest is open to any weblogs that existed for a period of time during the year 2006, so weblogs that were discontinued during 2006 are also eligible
Then they say in the “How it Works” section:
From now until 10:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (GMT-5) on Wednesday, January 10, 2005, anyone can nominate their favorite weblogs.
WOW! They can turn back time! You can nominate 2006 blogs until January 10, 2005! What will those geeks think of next???

Let’s all nominate the Manolo for best American blog.

I also feel that “manolo’s food blog” is worthy of nomination in the “best food blog” category. If you have not yet enjoyed the writing and the recipes of mr. henry, you have a treat in store for you.

I agree totally w/mrs dalloway about our mr henry, and as for you, manolo, you get my vote for sure!!

I’m going to vote right now!

Best American Blog it is! Good luck dear Manolo!

I haven’t checked, but I’d go out on a limb and guess that beauty blogs aren’t recognized, either. The geeks who don’t care about the shoes tend not to care too much about the lipgloss.
In my book, The Manolo is always a winner.

I’m going to do my duty…vote!

Manolo, I have fired off a very complimentary email to Mr. Nolan
about including a category for fashion weblogs. Injustice cannot
long survive a fervent onslaught of dedicated fans of the Manolo,
I feel sure.
Also, while the categories do not fit the Manolo as a bespoke garment might do, there are other categories for your work, as others have pointed out: Topical, Humorous, Best Written, American, & as Laura points out, The Best!
I echo Gaia, the Non-Blonde, & shout: You are a winner to the core, Manolo, mon ami d’Internet!
