Do Not Despair!
Manolo says, according to science! today is the most depressing day of the entire year.
Dr Cliff Arnall, a Cardiff University psychologist, devised the formula that shows today is the most depressing.
His equation takes into account six factors: weather, debt, time since Christmas, time since failing our new year’s resolutions, low motivational levels and the feeling of a need to take action.
Taken together they pinpoint today as ‘Blue Monday’.
But be not afraid, dear friends, for the Manolo has been saving something spectacular for just such the situation, when the desperate circumstances called for the desperate measures…
Behold the fuschia knee high boots with the black and gold metallic trim from the Pucci!
Are they not the crazy, wonderful, over-the-top boots?
Do they not, in their crazy, wonderful, over-the-topness bring the smile to your face?
Mission accomplished! Pucci has made the smile.
Let us see the Jack Bauer do that!

The boots made me smile. But for the record, Jack Bauer makes me smile too. Especially when he says, “Chloe! We’re running out of time!”

Hmmm.
Somehow I don’t think they’re quite … “me”. :)

According to Dr Cliff Arnall, today is the day we realize we are not giving up alcohol after all, regardless of what we promised after that New Years Eve binge. Our self esteem might take a drop, and a smile will not help to recover it. So maybe, instead of just looking at those booth, we should actually buy them and show them off to the unsophisticated masses: the envy of the passerby might restore our previous sense of self worth, or not?

Pucci makes the big smiles. Now all I need is the sugar daddy to buy me the fabulous boots.

No lie, for the last four months I have gotten on shoes.com to look at these boots every time I felt bad.

The challenge to deliver should be issued to someone else aside from Jack Bauer who proclaimed, ‘Mission accomplished!’

Ahh the Manolo is very brave. We duly noted these boots…unfortunately we could not find a super-heroine to wear them…thus they remained unpurchased.

I find it is not so much the boots that make me smile, but your enjoyment of them that does. ~E

I’ll vouch. Today’s my birthday, and I got fired this morning! But, one look at these boots, and everything is bright and beautiful again. Maybe a good use for severance pay?
One thing’s for sure, I am not giving up alcohol.

I’m sorry Tachina! Happy birthday regardless.
Oh Manolo, you should have seen the way a smile spread across my face as I scrolled down and saw the boots. Gracias!

They have metallic gold soles! They are definitely boots to make you smile. And never to be worn off the carpet, because who could bear to mar those beautiful soles?

*gasp* They’re in my size! Squee!
Oh, but I have fat calves, they’ll never fit me. Eh, like I was really going to be able to afford to buy them. It made for a nice-if-brief fantasy, though.
