Manolo the Columnist
Manolo says, here is the Manolo’s latest column for the Express of the Washington Post.
Dear Manolo,
I’ve been told that I must stop wearing pointy toed shoes because of a foot disorder. Could you recommend some non-ugly, non-flats that would be appropriate?
Amy
Manolo says, this friend of the Manolo is in luck. For the few years, around the turn of the millennium, the pointy-pointy shoes had come to completely dominate the shoe fashions.
During the height of this mania, the tips of these stiletto-heeled shoes of pointiness began to lengthen, to the extent that the Manolo feared that the stylish ladies would soon curl the toes of their shoes upward, stuffing them with moss and using the silver chains to secure the ends of them to their knees, as did the ridiculous and foppish dandies of the Middle Ages.
But, as such things do, the fashion tides began to turn, and the round-toed shoes and the square-toed shoes slowly reappeared on feets of the young and beautiful.
This it is especially good news for the super fantastic working girls who must spend many hours walking and standing on their feets.
Here is the attractive round-toed suede pump in the delicious plum color from the Belle by Sigerson Morrison. It is also available in the more conservative black suede.

Those shoes are gorgeous, especially in plum. But then I love just about everything Sigerson Morrison makes. But damn, they’ve got every size except mine! I’ll have to look further afield than Zappos.

Lovely shoes! Thank you, Manolo, for including on your blog some stylish shoes that those of us with the foot disorders can actually wear.

At last. I, for one, am sooooo sick of the cucaracha killers, most of which belong only on court jesters and Kiebler elves.

Mmmmmmmm! Plum! Named after my grandmama, too! I think I need them very much!

Lovely indeed. And, in my experience, the shoes of Sigerson Morrison can be quite comfortable. I’ve actually had these on my favorites list for a while now, in the hopes that the price might slip down to the level where I could justify the purchase, but so far no luck. (On a related note, has anyone else noticed that the discounts on the sale items at Zappos have recently become less impressive? Is this a seasonal thing?)

I’ve noticed the same thing on Zappos - I used to be able to find something nice at, say, 70% off, but now it’s all 9-10%, and this week a whole bunch of my favorites reset to full price. Here’s hoping it’s seasonal!

The other brand that’s great for foot disorders is Taryn Rose. Love her stuff ; )

I am so sick of pointy toes, and I rejoiced when round-toed shoes showed up several years ago. I believe the pointy shoes are going to look totally dated in a year or two if they don’t already.

Stylish really! I liked the color too, one of my favourite colors…
