What the Manolo Is…

Manolo says, it is the Tuesday, time to see what the Manolo is…

Reading…

Watching…

Listening to…

Amy Beach and Roma, the odd combination that seemed to work this week for the Manolo.

ROME, OMG, I am loving ROME. The first season is still super-fantastic & the second season is, too. It is re-watchable for detail, something that occurs only rarely, imo. I remember also enjoying the BBC’s I. CLAUDIUS when it was on PBS. That one was based on the novel by Robert Graves, & it launched some great stars & is worth another look, too. The thing about ROME is that we know a lot more historical detail now, & the producer, one of whom is John Milius, is a marvel at creating spectacular effects, Julius Caesar’s Triumph for only one example. All the actors are SUPERB, too. Great Choices, Manolo!

The first season was pretty good. The second though (with a couple of minor moments) has devolved into sex with a side order of olives. There’s a story in there somewhere, but with all the oiled bodies flinging themselves hither and yon, finding it among the distractions has become difficult.
