The first season was pretty good. The second though (with a couple of minor moments) has devolved into sex with a side order of olives. There's a story in there somewhere, but with all the oiled bodies flinging themselves hither and yon, finding it among the distractions has become difficult.

ROME, OMG, I am loving ROME. The first season is still super-fantastic & the second season is, too. It is re-watchable for detail, something that occurs only rarely, imo. I remember also enjoying the BBC's I. CLAUDIUS when it was on PBS. That one was based on the novel by Robert Graves, & it launched some great stars & is worth another look, too. The thing about ROME is that we know a lot more historical detail now, & the producer, one of whom is John Milius, is a marvel at creating spectacular effects, Julius Caesar's Triumph for only one example. All the actors are SUPERB, too. Great Choices, Manolo!
