looks like the queen of england

  2. Jane Cancuk Says:

I don’t know why, but I want to say the lady in question is Queen Elizabeth II?

  3. Phyllis Says:

It’s the late, great Queen Mum.

  4. Emma Says:

    Marilyn M.

  5. Cynthia Says:

Not the Queen, the Queen Mum!

  6. shuzluva Says:

I’m going with the Queen Mum. Wasn’t she simply fabulous?!?

  7. Tom Johnson Says:

The late Duchess of Windsor–Wallis Warfield Simpson

  8. Linda Grant Says:

Obviously not Helen Mirren. And the late Duchess of Windsor was not beloved by anyone (though she did have finer ankles than her sister in law and niece.)

  9. Eloise Says:

    Eleanor Roosevelt?

  10. Rita Says:

    Queen Mum.

  11. srah Says:

My first instict was QE2, but my second was Princess Di (because I couldn’t see the Queen in the last pair). Isn’t it strange that we’ve all identified the feet as belonging to some member of the British royal family? Is there something particularly British or royal about the feet?

  12. deja pseu Says:

Ah, but who else but a British royal would stroll across the turf in shoes like those, on their way to congratulate the winner of the polo match, perhaps?

  13. ChristinaM33 Says:

I don’t think so. Di had better ankles than that. I don’t see QE2 wearing the first pair of platforms and I don’t think the Queen Mum could’ve worn heels like that when those styles were in. Marilyn M. would never have worn the third shoe, IMO, besides she died before platforms were in. I am inclined to say British though, b/c of the man’s shoe in the background of the 3rd picture, so I’ll just take a stab at it and say Fergie, (formerly?) Duchess of York.

  14. tiggy Says:

I’m going to go with Princes Margaret because I can’t see QEII wearing platforms like in the first picture.

  15. ChristinaM33 Says:

My second guess would be Hillary Clinton b/c she has ankles like that. But would she be called “beloved”?

  16. juniper Says:

    It’s Jackie O.

  17. Dr. Fabulous Shoes Says:

Of course it’s Jackie O. To think otherwise would be absurd.

  18. peggy Says:

    Andrew’s ex, Fergie perhaps?
And to think anyone would guess those thick ankles belong to Jackie O.–ridiculous.

  19. Bryan Says:

    J. Edgar Hoover

  20. srah Says:

I’m guessing the foot next to Pair #3 belongs to a man in a kilt, which is all the more reason to think it’s one of the royals. The men do like to go tromping around Balmoral in kilts. I’m befuddled. Who would wear Pairs 1 and 4 but also wear the long dresses in 2 and 3? When do we find out the answer?

  21. linda grant Says:

Here’s a picture of Queen goosestepping. Those ankles look familiar to me . .

  22. Chuckc Says:

I thought QEII at first, but could it be the Iron Lady herself, Margaret Thatcher?

  23. annie Says:

I think Jackie O… the platforms are way too out there for the queen if you ask me

  24. supercanuck Says:

    How about Evita Peron?

  25. Kate Says:

    Helen Keller is my guess!

  26. monica Says:

    supercanuck, stole my guess…eva peron.

  27. MissV Says:

Darlings, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis wore a size 12 shoe. And her ankles and calves were decidedly more shapely than these. Also, these photos appear to have been taken in the 1940’s, when the lovely (and teenaged) Miss Bouvier would surely have died to be seen in such matronly shoes as these.

I’m going with the consensus here. It’s the Queen Mum.

  28. Anonymous Says:

It is indeed the Queen Mum!

  29. Courgette Says:

Surely it’s the Little Sparrow, Edith Piaf!

  30. Hester Says:

    Camilla?

  31. 3 to get ready Says:

My first thought was that it was the Queen, but upon reflection, I don’t see any current pictures there, so I’m thinking that it must be her mother.

Regardless, it’s DEFINITELY a man in a kilt beside her, as they stroll across the lawn!

  32. blackbird Says:

    Tis the Queen Mum -
    we’re sure of it.

  33. LaVida2 Says:

I agree with Eloise, I think its Eleanor Roosevelt. J. Edgar Hoover….LMAO!!!

  34. Anna Says:

I think the shoes belong to Queen Elizabeth. I’ve often noticed she favours platforms, from Gina I think.

  35. gemdiva Says:

I’m going with QE II. People forget that she was a young girl once, so the platforms wouldn’t be too much of a stretch. My second choice would be the Queen Mum.

  36. char Says:

    Duchess of york.

  37. Marcela Says:

I think it is The Queen, mostly for the time of the photos (young woman in 1944)

  38. Marcela Says:

I think it is The Queen, mostly for the time of the photos (young woman in 1944)

  39. La Gemelle Says:

I’m getting the British vibe, too. Hard to believe the same worman wore shoes so dowdy and so cool. (Love those platforms.)

Not Fergie or Diana, i think. Both had/have shapelier legs. Not QE2. Not in those fab platforms — unless when she was younger???

It could be Wallis… but I’m going with QE2, back in the day.

  40. g-dog Says:

God - I wish it was J Edgar - you should get a prize for that answer.

These photos all seem matronly and unfortunately not regal. However, I think it is QE2, it’s the cankles..

  41. Krista Says:

Marilyn Monroe emphatically did not die before platforms were popular; platforms were huge in the 1940’s (think Rita Hayworth). That being said, platforms were not exactly at their zenith during hers.

I’m not sure who’s wearing the shoes, but I think the British Royal Family Member guesses are likely candidates!

  42. Krista Says:

Actually, that’s a total cop-out. I’m going with the Queen Mother.

  43. pbird Says:

Of course its the Queen Mother. The idea that it could even possibly be Diana or even Fergie is hilarious. Those photos were taken long ago and are of a short little lady’s feet. The idea that it could have been Jackie Onassis leaves me speechless.

  44. pbird Says:

OK, it could be her daughter.

  45. Toby Wollin Says:

One of my dear-departed Mum’s claims to fame is that she actually has a Queen Mum story. During WWII, my mother was a visiting nurse-midwife in Glasgow and was called out to do a delivery. Because Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mum) was touring, to do “the queen’s wave” and make the locals feel a little bit better about being bombed into the ground (sorry, we are anti-monarchists at our house), the police had the streets blocked off so that the queen could drive slowly by in her Daimler (yep - I’ll repeat that…a Daimler..not a British-made car). Well, my mother had business to attend to and was dressed in her nurse’s uniform and veil and so when the policeman stopped her, right in front of the queen’s car and told her she had to just stand there, she told him to bugger off as she was on “official business”, gave the queen a little dip and sailed on with her medical bag et al. She also told me that it was very well known at that time that Queen Elizabeth kept multiple pairs of “court shoes” in the back seat of her car and would change them on a moment’s notice. She was known as a real shoe lover and very fashionable person at the time.

  46. Jessica Says:

    I love those white shoes!!

Queen Mum. Might have said Princess Margaret, but I wouldn’t call her beloved.
