Oh god, that choreography is just hideous! It's almost as if they hired a dance instructor from a girls boarding school to teach the girls "the modern fad dances" and how to become "graceful trees". Yikes!

I adore the song, though the video is odd because the girls tripping along as if they're about to fall over, the pop out colours and the submissive, come hither looks on Nancy don't match the song. It's what you sing while you're pysching yourself up to intimidate someone, and while you might be wearing an excellent pair of heels, those girls' boots are -not- made for walking by a long shot.

Say what you will, her gritty, growly voice leads to songs -anyone- can sing. And singing is good.

1.) The Alanis Morisette cover of My Humps is HILARIOUS - she's got a great sense of humor for being able to cover that. Check it our here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W91sqAs-_-g
The backup dancers are PRICELESS

2.) I can't believe Manolo would mock the song about awesome shoes!!!

3.) If it weren't for this song - what else would I do karaoke to???

4.) If nothing else...it's better than j.simp's cover!

p.s. I also like Bang, Bang - very haunting, and very appropriate with Kill Bill!

I found this dull and conmmercial and totally lacking in creativity and innovation in the 60s and now it's just plain boring. You can almost hear the dancers being told shake your booty, but not too much. Not that I'm advocating for what passes for dancing now on MTV and its immitators. Perish the thought.

And Nancy Sinatra as daring? Give me a break! When there were women like Janice Joplin, Grace Slick and Aretha Franklin breaking real barriers and blazing new trails with their music. Sorry this doesn't even qualify as top 40 trash. It was nothing but a momentary blip on the radar screen of the musical revolution. However...... I do like the boots.

Indeed, Kourtney -- as a small child in the 60s, I watched Ms. Sinatra perform this song on television and thought she was the epitome of sophistication and daring. I was in awe of her. Then again, my brain was still forming. But, for the era, the song was indeed a classic, especially among little girls who were suddenly alerted to the fact that defiance and self-reliance would not make us disappear in a puff of smoke.

Hm. I was always convinced that this was the ultimate in daring glamour & independent women, mostly because that's what my five-year old brain made of my mother's explanation of it. And my thirty year old brain (until this point) had never really re-examined it... Interesting to think of Nancy as the original Riot Grrl!

I still think it stands up all right; certainly nowhere near as horrifying as what a person can catch on MTV or MuchMusic.

Oy, that dancing reminded me of the drill team at my high school in Texas (which was a *very* good one, back in the '80's, winning lots of awards) - God knows what their routines would look like now. Tarts 'R' Us.

Nancy also sang "You Only Live Twice", which I love, though perhaps more for its John Barry orchestration than for Miss Sinatra's vocalization.
