Manolo says, oddly compelling!

P.S. Many thanks to the Manolo’s internet friend Maria.

  1. Linda Grant Says:

What is fascinating about the first video is her face in close-up - the self-confidence of someone who knows herself to be an accomplished performer.

  2. Faith Says:

I have long been a fan of Mrs. Miller’s work but this is the first time I’ve ever seen her sing. Linda’s absolutely right — she’s completely confident of her performance and knows *exactly* what she’s doing.

Ayyyyyyy! Many and profuse apologies! The Manolo has accidently erased one of his internet friend’s comments.

Please forgive the Manolo this error.

She looks and sounds like Mrs. Hyacinth Bucket…. hmmmm.

    She’s the original Wing:

I like her version of “Boots”! She’s got more range and sass than Nancy Sinatra, that’s for sure.

  7. Sue F. Says:

A quick peek at the tribute site makes it seem as though she was considered a novelty act and not particularly accomplished back in the day, but it’s really rather fascinating to listen to her. I was reminded of that ELO song where the opera singer learns to sing the blues and thought she was quite good.

  8. Empress Says:

Oh what a glorious trip down Memory Lane! Long before Sanjaya, Britney or Beyonce there was…..Mrs. Miller. She was a goddess. A vocalist with no equal. Thank you for resurrecting these special pieces of video! These young, silly pups of current vocal recording could learn a thing or two from this exquisite lady. ( But most importantly: do we have any clips of her shoes??? I can almost imagine them now….!)
