I'm the mother of the author of this post. "Tons" is an exaggeration. However, she has a very nice pair of summer wedges, bought last year, that still fit and that go well with this dress. So I told her she could either wear those, or she could get some flats, which she is likely to get much more wear out of. And if she should outgrow them, well, they're also my size . . .

Furthermore, last I remember from Chicago Manual of Style, a hyphen never follows "-ly." I haven't read the latest CMS, though, so it may have changed.

sorry! ;-/

As the mother of an 8th grader, I know the misery that is Middle School. Due to hormones in the chicken, the horror that we all used to have in 9th grade is now experienced in 7th or 8th.

Tons of heels. Wow, on growing feet, her folks must spend a ton on shoes! Wish I had tons.

Also, this is a sweet dress. And a big dance is an excellent opportunity to learn to use an iron...

My only fear is that the dear girl MIGHT wear a bra with shoulder straps under that spaghetti-strap dress. If she did, everyone would see the bra straps. I am so tired of seeing that everywhere on girls and young women. I can't believe I'm saying this, but if she does not wear a STRAPLESS BRA under that dress - - - - perhaps braless would work. (I guess that would depend on the fit of the dress.) Or am I the problem?

I, too, laud this young lady for asking the Manolo for shoe advice. This is an indicator that she may be superfantastic already.
