Shoes for the Medical Student
Manolo says, one of the Manolo’s internet friends has asked him the question.
Dear Manolo,
I’m a 22 year-old medical student who enjoys dressing up even for lectures, anatomy labs, and late-night study groups. What shoes would you recommend pairing with a pleated, knee-length, deep mustard-yellow, silk skirt? I don’t want to be asked if I’m heading to a black-tie gala, but still wish to elicit sighs of envy from from the most bleary-eyed colleague fueled by red-bull and coffee.
Thank you!
Jane
The Manolo salutes this super fantastic young doctor in the making. Truly she is meant to be one of the Manolo’s Posse!
Yes, the Manolo questions of the wisdom of wearing the yellow silk skirt to the the dissection, but if his friend is truly in the attention-getting mood (and her student loans and/or parents have been generous) the Manolo would suggest these plum colored sandals from the Celine. They are on sale, more than 40% off of the normal price!

Hot shoes, but do you think that’s the right color for mustard?

This is the EXACT color I had in my head when I read “mustard.” Now I must not only purchase the shoes but find the mustard skirt as well.
Bueno!

What about us, medical students, who wish to be comfortable during the long hours, but not at the price of wearing orthopaedic shoes? Are Crocks the only option to look just a bit more cool ;)?

“…..a pleated, knee-length, deep mustard-yellow, silk skirt.” Ayyyy! The horror! My eyes are bleeding.
Love the shoes, though.

I like the idea of a deep mustard-yellow, silk skirt. Maybe because I have one in red and I love the design on that one. I didn’t like the strap on the shoes though. The color is fantastic, I will buy them later for my red skirt. I found some nice shoes in a website which I am not sure if I remember correctly, something like goldperth, I love this big pictures where you can see the shoe completely.

As a second year medical student I can’t help but shudder at the thought of anyone wearing anything but their oldest and least desirable clothes to anatomy lab. I threw every item I wore into lab into a trash can at the end of the, as did many of my classmates.
I like lovely things as much as the next person, but anatomy lab has things like congealed blood, errant bits of liquefied fat and cadaver fixation fluids spread everywhere. Why anyone would expose silk (or 300 dollar shoes!) to that environment is beyond me.
