The Peregrinations of the Manolo
Manolo says, the Manolo must apologize to his internet friends for the paucity of the posting this weekend, as the Manolo was travelling. Normally this would not be the event worth the mentioning, but from the start this trip was beset by delays, discomforts, hair-breadth escapes from death, and other troubles, culminating finally in the mechanical failure of the luxury automobile in the which the Manolo was riding.

This mechanical failure occurred in the Mojave desert, on the road from Los Vegas to Los Angeles, and necessitated the 90 minute wait by the side of the freeway. Happily, the Manolo did get to ride up-front in the tow-truck with the driver and his dog, he and did get to see the World’s Tallest Thermometer while he awaited the arrival of the Posse Manolo, so all was not lost.
And now the Manolo is safely in his summer home, staring out at the ocean, enjoying the iced tea and the company of the good friends, able to recount this tale with nothing but the laughs.

The hound dog riding up front - always a good sign when it comes to tow trucks!

Riding up front in the tow truck with the driver and his dog would have made the whole ordeal worth it for me. :)

That is a heck of a place to break down. I can just picture the ride in the tow truck with the dog in the front seat with you.

My goodness, Manolo dear, I can only imagine you impeccably dressed during this stressful event - and I’m glad to hear it is but a distant memory.

Ay. I’ve had to ride up front with a tow truck driver before…it wasn’t overly pleasant.

I am so glad you survived your terrible ordeal and near-death experience Manolo. What would we do without you in the world?
Please please tell us more when you feel up to it.

I too have been in the Mojave desert for the past week. If it’s not a fun place to break down, it’s not a fun place to be working for nearly a month. I could have picked you up!

I have seen! I have seen! And then quickly went on my way.

I’m sorry your trip was fraught avec le malheureusement, but I’m glad you recounted your tale for us. The post was reward enough for the shortage of items this weekend. You really write well.

You got stuck in Baker?? How terrible. I like living in Vegas far away from that place and thermometer!
