This so reminds me of my very first confession in a Spanish Catholic church in Oceanside, California.

The year was 1966, and I was a very nervous Polish American Catholic girl scared witless by the dark drama of the Spanish Church. As I entered the confessional, I was 100% on my game, and I blurted out my well-practiced confession in a torrent of 7 year old poetry and remorse, only to discover 10 minutes later that the priest was still speaking to the penitent ensconced on the *other* side of the confessional.

When he slid open the door on my side I almost jumped out of my skin and promptly forgot 95% of the confession I had so carefully rehearsed for the past month.

It was all downhill from there.

Ah, "Vaya Semanita" (lit. "What A Week") -- it's one the most hilarious programmes on Spanish TV (although it's a Basque TV production, it is followed by cable all over the country).

That is hilarious, but also scary. I'm Catholic, and believe me, going to confession is hard enough without everyone else hearing!

Sharon, he is saying that he committed adultery, and the machine asks how many times. He presses "1" but then presses "1" again, so instead of "1" the machine thinks it was "11". The church ladies are, of course, shocked.

I wish I could have trencended the barriers because I was totally lost and it looked like it would be funny. But then again I don't understand Spanish at all.

It's nice to have something so funny that it trancends the barriers of language. (The only Spanish I speak has to do with kitchen terms, and I could understand what was going on perfectly.)
