The Lucky Shoes of the Tony Blair
Manolo says, wise words from the soon-to-be-former Prime Minister.
Outgoing British Prime Minister Tony Blair revealed Friday that he had worn the same pair of shoes to his weekly question-and-answer session in parliament since he became the country’s leader.
The shoes in question — an 18-year-old pair of hand-made leather Brogues that have only been re-soled once — were made by Church’s in Northampton, central England.
“I know it’s ridiculous, but I’ve worn them for every PMQs (Prime Minister’s Questions) … I’ve actually had them for 18 years,” Blair told The Times in an interview, adding that “cheap shoes are a false economy.“
The Manolo knew when he saw this picture that the Tony Blair was the fellow shoe lover.

That is a pretty good shoe if they have lasted 18 years and he only had them resoled once. My shoes half the time don’t last me a full year. At least not ones I wear all the time.

He probably is in a car much of the time and doing very little walking. I can’t imagine how else a pair of shoes could last that long and only need one resoling. Unless he has the lightest step ever!

it just shows that good shoes are in fact more economical. Invest in one good pair, rather than 10 cheap pairs in ten years, re-sole every now and then. Better for your wallet and better for the planet.

Church’s shoes are simply incredible. They really do last that long, but my god are they NOT cheap.
Also: thanks for this. I have the most unreasonable crush on the Blair. Medication isn’t helping.
