Great. Shoes for Posh for when she goes near the water.

Oh my goodness. I mean, I guess it would be good for those who would like to wear heels on a dive boat. A trip to the Cayman Islands would never be complete, without the ability to swish through Stingray City in these.

These are DADA shoes, an idea taken to its maximal absurdity.

Googling reveals some comments on the Snopes report, they seem to be from Belgium and some commenters were theorizing that the “shoes” are an art project (seemingly based on the non-functionality of said footwear and the precise yet generic nature of the packaging. Shoes? Flippers? Shlippers?

For some reason, I find these charming. They’re so Barbie!

Toddson completely beat me to my comment.

I am sorry but I cannot imagine wearing those. They have got to be one of the ugliest shoes I have seen in awhile. No thanks, I will pass on these ones.

Posh Barbie shlippers. You guys make me laugh. I love it! Not the shoes though, just you guys.

There is something charmingly barbie-esque about them, and I’m sure that the next Scuba Barbie will be wearing these in pink, along with a mini-skirt wetsuit to match.
And if it is art, it is indeed a wonderful commentary on the unfunctionality of today’s footwear – or perhaps it is meant as a commentary on how the fashion world eschews the cheap, informal, waterproof footwear such as the flip-flop and the croc, yet does not award us a functional alternative.

I don’t need anything extra to help me trip….a flipper/heel combo sounds like a combo for disaster.

Perhaps we will see these in a future Bond movie or something…

…and how high were the designers of these shoes when they conceived this idea?

Dang! I never should have tossed my Chanel scuba suit from the early 90′s!

an enigmatic and tantalizing photo. Check the reflecton of the car in the store window. And then the reflection of neighboring buildings in the windows of the car. It is dada land and dream land and shoes of great artistry and whimsy. Bravo.

You think ORDINARY flippers damage coral?
    These would be like jackhammers.

Imangine an unfavorite celebrity walking in those……Wouldn’t it be just ducky?

Count me among those charmed, and reasonably certain that these were not intended to be real footwear.

Are these a cruel joke? So women who are obsessed with making that flopping sound everywhere they go with mules and flip flops that show way too much of their unsightly feet can more or less cover up and still be annoying?

  23. Elle July 8, 2007 at 12:54 pm #

They actually look quite cool actually. Jean pual Gaultier had a funtional pair in oneof his shows last year.
    Also look at these…

I’m sorry, but as impractical and non-functional as the footwear may be THEY ARE CALLED FINS NOT FLIPPERS!!!!

I live on an island were we are know for scuba diving. What a perfect gag. I think they are so funny. I need to put up a window here with those shoes ( what laughs this island would get). I would consider wearing them down the street if I didn’t think I would break my neck.
