Wednesday Afternoon Flats
Manolo says, here from the French Sole is the oddly named Hip-Hop.
It is pretty and school-girly, charmingly feminine and prim, with its pleated vamp and crisp white color. It reminds the Manolo of the freshly laundered cotton shirt.
But, “Hip-Hop”?
Sometimes the Manolo wonders what goes through the brains of the shoe designers and their marketing peoples.

If I may make a humble suggestion…… perhaps it is because the vamp of the pretty ballet flat is reminiscent of the retro classic athletic shoes so fondly worn by the Run DMC in the 80′s?
(Begging the maestro’s pardon if I am wrong!)
bad name, unless you use them to go hippoty-hopping like a bunny through the park in a sassy skirt and ballet top.
Actually, these are almost the perfect opposite of a hip-hop shoe.
They’re adorable, but white patent leather gets dirty so easily, as I remember from my girlhood. Sigh.
They do remind me of a bunny.
I wish I could wear flats and these are so darling! But as I learned when I was actually taking ballet, I have no arches and flat fat feet look awful in flats. le sigh.
They do remind of the cute girls I uh uhm admired in Jr and Sr High School for some reason.
And that makes me feel realy old.
Well, it is kind of reminiscent of a shell toe (ADIDAS), maybe that was the train of thought?
Sometimes the Manolo wonders what goes through the brains of the shoe designers and their marketing peoples.
From my encounters with many Marketing Peoples…I can safely say, “Not a whole bloody lot.”
I, too, thought immediately of a bunny. The loops look almost like eyes, and the rest of the lace immediately makes one think of whiskers.
Hippety hopping (or skipping) was around a long time before that dreadful rap stuff, so I think the name is fine.
I agree with the hippety hop crowd. I would have said “Skip. Hop.” might have been a better name (not to be confused with Trip Hop which is altogether different) as the thought of such girlish and carefree pursuits definitely arises when viewing these cuties.
