What the Manolo Is…
Manolo says, it is Tuesday, time to see what the Manolo is reading…
What is amazing to the Manolo is how well Sunset Boulevard holds up, more than fifty years after its production. And repeated viewings at various points in the Manolo’s life have only served to push to the very near the top of the Manolo’s list of the favorite movies.

I always find myself sad at how casual our society has become in terms of apparel. When I watch movies like Sunset Boulevard, I am always struck at how people used to look and the effort they made when dressing. Men and women wore hats, suits, hose , leather shoes.Keep up the good work, Manolo, for chiding us about the tacky shoes. Remember that it didn’t used to be so much about what you weighed but how you put yourself together.I’m getting melancholy, I think I need a Cary Grant or Gregory Peck fix.

I love Sunset Boulevard. I agree with Renee, I love seeing that people used to dress. For the theater, dinner, going to the grocery. Today I’ve seen people go to the theater wearing jeans and tshirts! And probably with Crocs! Ayyy!
But I am disappointed. I expected to see something about the great day that is July 17. The birthday of the Hasselhoff.

A humble suggestion for the Manolo’s listening, knowing you’ve been a fan of his music in the past: Golijov’s Oceana is out this week, and it’s amazing.
