Manolo for the Big Girl!

Manolo says, many and profuse apologies for the paucity of the posting today. The Manolo has been working diligently this morning on several projects, projects which when they are unveiled will delight and amaze you.

But, most of all, the Manolo was preparing to show you this….

Manolo for the Big Girl

I was delighted to see this come in on my own blog hits. What a wonderful addition to the fashion comment in the blogosphere - intelligent, well written, and with a sense of humor.

I’m so glad that you’ve added a blog for us zaftig ladies Manolo :-) I love love love fashion - and want to make sure I can look as good as possible even though I’m not a size 2!

OK here is a question… serious, not facetious!

Most conventional clothing models are about–what–maybe size 0-4? And, rightfully, consumers are quite miffed that this does not represent them.

So then we have “plus-size models” who span maybe size 12-20?

What about those of use who are truly “medium”? The majority of the people I see out and about on the streets and in the workplace and in the supermarket are about in this middle, and we are seriously not represented at all in those silly fashion magazines!

Not that I am complaining–I really don’t need to see something on a model who looks like me to decide whether I like it. I am just a bit baffled.

Manolo, the chubby girls of the Web salute you! :^) Thank you for the additional superfabulousness.

There are two basic looks for large sizes: Trendy teenager and Superfrump. Anything else must be carefully patched together from a wide variety of sources. I hope this will make the patchwork easier.

And maybe we will solve the mystery of the super-long sleeve, outsize shoulder, and too-long hem in plus sizes! (My sistahs know what I’m talking about!) I have a theory having to do with “slopers” for patterns, but, if that’s the case, plus-size clothing makers obviously don’t know their customers.

Ah, well, thanks again! Muchos besos!!!

Wildflower, I was kinda thinking the same thing. Especially at age 41, I’d look silly trying to carry off many trendy fashions, though I’m not sure the big girl blog is really going to be for me, either. But maybe it’ll manage to cover a lot of area outside the typical realm of fashion that’ll be helpful.
