Manolo on the Go

By Manolo the Shoeblogger

Manolo says, if you have perhaps been wondering why the postings of the Manolo have been so slow this week, it is because the peregrinations of the Manolo have taken him up the coast of California, through the Big Sur, and into the most beautiful, if somewhat twee town of Carmel-by-the-Seaside.

Naturally, the Posse Manolo (the abbreviated version) did many Carmel touristy things, which included, but was not limited to, the visit to the Mission, the tea at the Tuck Box, and the shopping rampage through the tree-lined streets.

This morning, the Manolo finds himself in San Francisco, where he will be for the next two or three days, visiting with the friends, and doing what the Manolo does in beautiful and vibrant cities filled with restaurants and shops.

Love Carmel! You are heading my direction though! Make sure you have a sweater/light jacket in SF. So much to do!

  3. Jayne Says:

OMG! I SOOOO missed the fact that you are in SF for a few days! WOW! Now the Manolo really *is* in my neck of the woods! I’m sure you don’t need any dining recommendations, but if you find yourself stuck, drop me an e-mail!

And dear, DO bring a light jacket. The fog is relentless this time of the year. =)

    Color me insanely jealous!

While in SF, do not miss Jeremy’s, 2nd street at South Park (between Brannan and Bryant). You’ll thank me, I promise…

  6. dangster Says:

Oooh! I live near SF! :)

Welcome to the Bay Area, Manolo! I expect that you will be spending most of your time in the city (as well you should), but if you manage to squeeze in a side trip to the East Bay, I can make a few suggestions for you: Jade Villa, in Oakland’s Chinatown, is known for having some of the area’s best dim sum, and the endemic nuttiness of Berkeley is always worth a peek. If you feel like taking a walk in the woods, I would recommend Tilden Park, in the Berkeley hills, for its accessible trails, lovely scenery and its very own carousel.
    Enjoy your trip!

Welcome to the bay. Please don’t look too surprised if you reach my podunk part of the Bay, Silicon Valley (it’s only podunk b/c of the prevalence of flip flops and generally hideous shoe choices) – people in the city always dress better. Oh well, at least our weather is fantastic whereas SF weather is a tid bit nippy. It’s the only cool temperate climate where I can find women wearing peacoats in the middle of July on a regular basis.

Oh Manolo! I lived in Monterey all my life until last year when I moved to Spokane WA. I can’t say that I miss it all that much, but I’m very glad that you liked it there. PS–If you went to a shop in Big Sur called Local Color, you met my sister in law.
